OK, so a group of us are setting up a local league to play in. It sounds like it could be a lot of fun. They've asked me to write up a basic rules set, so I have. The rules are very basic at this stage and they will adapt I'm sure. But at the moment it's 1K points. Probably maelstrom missions as that's what the group prefers, Lords of war are restricted to no more than 25% of your total points cost. And I'm probably going to allow forgeworld as long as it's not 'experimental rules'

As for opponents. We have a bit of a variety. Namely, orks, iron hands, black templars, blood angels, space wolves, tau and skitari/admech. Anyway, I've thrown a list together at 1K. It was hard only taking one wraith unit considering I'm usually an Iyanden player. So, here it is.

HQ - Farseer, bike, spear, spirit stone

Troops - 5x Jetbikes with scatter lasers and warlock upgrade

Troops - 5x Jetbikes with shuriken cannons and warlock upgrade

Elites - 5x Wraithguard with D-scythes and wave serpent with TL scatter lasers and shuriken cannon

Fast attack - Crimson Hunter exarch with pulse laser and 2 bright lances.

I think it covers basically every Base at this points level and is a pretty horrific list. Thoughts dakka?

You should be fine so long as you know your Eldar trickery well enough.

3000pts Blood Angels (4th Company) - 2000pts Skitarii (Voss Prime) - 2500pts Imperial Knights (Unnamed House) - 1000pts Imperial Guard (Household Retainers)

2000pts Free Peoples (Edlynd Fusiliers) - 2000pts Kharadron Overlords (Barak Zilfin) - 500pts Ironweld Arsenal (Edlynd Ironwork Federation) - 1000pts Duardin (Grongrok Powderheads)

Wargaming's no fun when you have a plan!

A couple of guys have been throwing their lists at me.

The mechanicus guy has robots and destroyers. Lots of grav and phospher blasters. Something like 2x Destroyers. One grav squad, one 'other' squad. And the robots have all phospher. 3 robots with 2 datasmiths.

The wolves player has so podding hammernators, 2x 3 thunderwolves, a dread, some fangs with lascannons and a rule priest.

The best 1000 pt eldar list is:

1 autarch with fusion gun
2x10 guardian defenders with bright lances in wave serpent with Scatter Laser
2x 5 fire dragons in wave serpent withscatter lasers

You bring 12 hull points at AV12 and strong fire power. Shoot shields immediately as soon as you can.. that is 8D6 str6 shots

Except. I have no guardians, no autarch, no fire dragons and only 2 serpents, and I own all of what I've listed. In fact, I'd hedge my bets with my versus what you've listed.

Sorry pal, but I think "friendly" doesn't describe this at all. 13 jetbikes, wraithguard in a serpent and a flyer at 1000 points? You won't make many friends running this. That said, it's damn good. You are right that it covers every base. I think you'll struggle to survive turn 1 alpha striking drop pods. Which is something eldar struggle with in general.

XIX Legion - 3500 points

Yeah, alpha striking pods would upset me. It sounds like so far only two lists have pods and each only has one. One is a unit of TH/SS Wolf guard with Arjac..... That doesn't frieghten me.... It lands, I disappear. The other is a unit of 3 Grav cents. That'll hurt, and probably delete a jetbike squad fast. So the idea is to jink my backside off of that happens and with any luck I'll have conceal up as well.

Oh I get the joke. You said "friendly". No this is a pretty good 1000 pt list.

Super killy, super movey

I'm hoping. It's arguably quite fragile. Alaric is right, if a friend of mine brings a pure drop pod blood angles list then I could be in trouble

well, you didn't say you didn't have any models. I picked fairly generic "eldar" stock items on purpose.

And, no offence, you would lose mate. :-) and not cos I am "all ego" or whatever, (really, I am not like that) just because

Fair one, you're probably right. I'd still give it a damn good go. And if I'm honest, looking at the other lists that are being written, I'm quite sure my list is fairly broken anyway.

I'd hedge my bets with Khaine's list, 4 Waveserpents just isn't that scary anymore

They're not, but in a 'his list verses my list' dual I think he's right. I think his would likely win. I don't think it's as much of a dead cert as he thinks though.

But I do appreciate you backing my list. I've not really had any negative comments about it so far. People seem to think it's a very strong list.

Yeah, it is a strong list, Bikes with wraith guard and a scattering of wave serpent and anti-flier.
I personally would rather drop the Wraith guard for a knight, and then have some spare points for a few other things. But if it's a friendly tournament and you only have a limited array of models then what your list has seems to strike a good balance!

Played a similar list last nice. All of the troops and both wave serpents died without shooting

it's strong. Your main issue is getting to actually use the wraithguard. You honestly shouldn't get to unless your opponent is bad. That's probably okay though because it draws fire from your bikes making a very survivable unit moreso

Necron. Fire dragons are a no go for me. 12 inch ranges are not scary

dropping wraithguard and serpeant for a wraith knight is easily the strongest change you could make. It's very unfriendly then haha

It would be an exceptionally effective change.... But we've agreed that Lords of war costing over 25% of the list cost, and super heavies are banned. So the Knights a no go to be fair.
