So alongside my Necrons and Death Korp armies I have a relatively old Chaos Space Marine army dedicated completely to Nurgle, though I love them dearly I feel like they still lack that extra bit of "umph" to take on a lot of armies in the current edition, so Ive thought about trying out some relic vehicles such as the Sicaran Battle Tanks, Chaos Contempter Dreadnaughts and such, but being FW they come at a high price and so I was wondering how these Relic vehicles worked in a CSM army.

In particular I want to know about the Sicaran and Contemptors, but if anyone has also used the named GUO, Scabbiathrax I think? That'd be awesome!

Contemptor isn't relic, take as many as you can fit in.

The Sicaran works just like it does in any other Space Marine army. It wants something dead and then it kills it. It's a very good medium infantry killer and really good for those friggin things that Jink. It's the tank version of a Flyrant in that it can do a bit of everything and do it all well. Fast, tough, killy, it is an easy thing to include in any list.

The Contemptor I've been fiddling with, trying to find a way to work it in because of how easy it would be to slap a Contemptor in my Astral Claws Loyalist list, and anytime I can use one model for Claws and Corsairs is a friggin great thing. But while the Chaos version can be fun, it lacks the basics that the Contemptor Mortis has. The Kheres Cannons, Skyfire, they're all not there. Sure you can do the 4th Quadrant Rebellion Legacy, give Cultists nearby Fearless like a kinda-Helcult but with a decent walker, but you're still paying Defiler prices for something that doesn't do a whole lot offensively.

Sicarans are incredibly cool, as are Fire Raptors. Contemptors are costlier, better Dreadnoughts (and for Chaos, this means you can get Dreadnoughts that aren't stupid and insane). Plus they come in Legion-specific variants if you're interested in that. The Decimator is worth a mention; it's expensive, but fun.

Anyway one vehicle that's pretty much an auto buy is the vindicator laser destroyer, take a las predator, make it cheaper by 10 points, and now make it ap1 and ordinance. The laser destroyer basically is a direct upgrade from the las pred in the right hands and can out preform it if used effectively. It can also take chaos icons.

If you pick up lost and the damned (ia13) there's rules in there also for all the sm land raider variants including the ares and Spartan assault tank. As well as special icons on there.

This also gives you access to some of the Deimos vehicles like the vindicator, predator, and whirlwind Helios errrr i think, don't quote me.

Oh it also lets you ally with guardsmen.
