Possessed Khorne Marine Covered in Spikes

Just a fun thread made for no reason other than to be a fun discussion ground. Just post what army your would start and why.

I would defiantly start a Sisters of Battle army. Only reason I didn't start them is because I enjoyed both lores of CSM and SOB and models at the same level, but cost made me choose CSM. On that note, does anyone know what unit rules the in KDK codex I could use for Chaos sisters or where to pick up said Chaos sisters?

Edit: Actually.... I might just convert up some Repentia with possessed csm bits and make them possessed/warptalons/raptors.

Just dropped 500 on a brand new Nid army! Damn these models are beautiful! And so many options too!

If I could, I would play Chaos. Not just marines, but Marines with Daemon allies and IA 13 vehicles and formations. After that, Tyranids. My own personal swarm of gaunts!

Sadly, I'm too busy modeling, painting, and playing with space elves. And with Dark Eldar and Harlequins, I could be doing that for quite some time to come...

If I could start a new army, I would probably start Eldar. As to why I would want to run them, they are very different from what I already am running. Where the vehicles for the Space Marines are chunky and have a lot of square corners, the Eldar vehicles and troops are very smooth and have a very different aesthetic. I would probably go with a nice green or violet color scheme to contrast them from my Crimson Fists and Blood Angels. Would start with the Battleforce since it comes with Dire Avengers and Guardians (I love the look of the standard Eldar troops), and probably add a unit of Windriders(maybe two boxes worth). Would get a Farseer on a jetbike to go with the Windriders. Would cap the army out with an Autarch, since I love the winged look.

I really would be making this army for the aesthetic, rather than the cheese factor. I wouldn't blow money on a Wraithknight since I think they look stupid and I think the fact they are Monstrous Creatures rather than Walkers (seriously, 99% of the thing is non-living, that is a Walker!) utterly moronic. But, I already have enough armies and don't want to start another one at least until the others are fully painted to my satisfaction.

Oh, and the other army I would want to start isn't exactly a new army to me, but it is very different from what I already have for Space Marines. I would like to get some Bikes, since I don't have any. This is more for competitive reasons, since Grav-bikers are pretty awesome. Would get six bikers, convert one to a Captain, and run them with my Crimson Fists.

I would make a Horus Heresy army, then BFG, then Epic, and then Eldar. In that order.

I'd start with csm - 20 strong infiltration blob with Cypher supported by Ahriman. Or Murderpack supported by sorcs. Will also need summoning daemons.

But i don't think i'll start a new 40k army. I just don't like power creep and that's the way it's going currently. Will just stay with my orkses (that i like a lot).

TBH, if I were to start any army at the moment it would be a Warmachine army (probably Cygnar). The utter lack of balance in Codex:Eldar pushed me a long way in that direction. I play 40K because I have most of a Sisters army painted (lack of updates there also don't help) and a cabined full of unpainted 40K things from potential allied detachments.

As for what I would start now if it were a 40K army? Maybe Tau? They seem strong without being over the top anymore, but at the same time the imperial armies do have the benefit of lots of allies which means switching to a new army can be a gradual process rather than an all or nothing thing. Realistically, having what I have a SM army would be my next one as I have a few units of BA, SW, and just plain Codex Marines already.

I just did. I bought my last army ever, a full Skitarii 1850p. I might buy 3 more boxes from GW at some point (Cult mechanicus leader and 2 boxes of kataphron) but other than that, I'm done. I've taken my final plunge and there will be no more. WIth this army, I have something to participate with so I can still hang out with my friends doing something we enjoy, but I will use my money on a company that doesn't actively try to make my experience gradually lesser from now on.

Heresy World Eaters. I have a whole host of armies right now in various stages of playability but I've never done 30k. Would be entertaining to switch up to something like that.

Also have a passing fancy with Orks right now. Vulcha Squad and Deff Dreads with Killa Kans, Eavy Armor Nobz and the Stormclaw set. Not sure why, but it just sounds like a good time to build that. But, a passing fancy isn't enough to spend that much more money on this friggin hobby.

It would probably be Adeptus Macharious. The models are some the best GW have done recently and any army with a heavy slant on technology is great on my watch.

My Star Wars Imperial Codex Project: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/641831.page
It has 7 HQs, 2 Troop types with Dedicated Transports, 5 Elite units, 5 Fast Attack units, 6 Heavy Support units, 2 Formations with unique units not in the rest of the codex, and 2 LOW choices.

I have a decent size Nid army, and Eldar army. I've just started Blood Angels.

My next army will be either Karissa or Epirian.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
Orks always ride in single file to hide their strength and numbers.

Tyranids. I'm still learning to play and as I'm Tau I get the shooting side of things but I have no idea how the psychic and close combat stuff works.

Coming from Necrons, then Nids, the human element is very refreshing so far in terms of modelling.

I could go a lot of different ways. Probably an “evil” army though.

Chaos, khorne in particular, has always tempted me.
Orks sings to the kitbasher in me, but I don’t think I’d be able to paint all the boys.
Nids just for something different, and the classic foil for my main army, Ultramarines.

Chaos is a very deep cave, and it is very fun to explore. Next thing you know, your entire collection is chaos! Playing a general chaos army is super fun, and can be one of the fluffiest out there!

I'll be updating my Dark Angels when the new book drops and mostly play them, but if I were to start a new army I'm not sure what I would do. It would either be orks, necrons or tau. With me though I always have a lot of projects going on at once so that means I generally finish nothing when the new shiny comes out and leaves me questioning my original decision.

Well because of the starters sets I bought (AOBR, Dark Vengeance, Sanctus Reach and Deathstorm), So technically I got 3 side projects going on simultaneously. But if I were to choose to start it, I'd do the Tyranids first. Most of the range is just beautiful. I especially love the Warriors and the Genestealers. Absolutely freighting poses.

I can and probably will start a new Cult Mechanicus army. Because I've asked for an Ad Mech codex before, and now that I've got one I'm not going to be that guy. Also, I like armies that have a unit that I love gawking over, and in this case it's the Tech Priest Dominus. He is now, HANDS DOWN, my favorite Games Workshop miniature of all time.
