Recently played a game and I was facing a Space Marine army. I didn't have any anti air and he used a Stormtalon. I managed to get a lucky shot on it and caused crew stunned. The flyer was 18" away from one of my squads on the ground pointed at them after it's attack. Following turn the Stormtalon must move 18" without turning. It can't voluntarily move the full 18" without it's base being within 1" of an enemy unit. Does this mean it does a crash and burn 1" from my guys, or does it just add extra distance so it doesn't?

Debatable. Most will say it will Crash and Burn as it can't end on top of enemy models.

But you might take this into consideration:
"A Zooming Flyer can move over intervening units and impassable terrain exactly as a Skimmer."
"If a Skimmer is forced to end its move over friendly or enemy models, move the Skimmer the minimum distance so that no models are left underneath it."

As such i would not say "add extra distance", but "minimum distance" away from those models.

You must move 18" exactly. Since you would be forced to end your move less than 18" you wreck and since Zooming, would Crash and Burn.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

I think you'd have to add extra for the move minimum as it can't turn or fly sideways, whereas skimmers can.

There is a big difference between "moving" to the side, and "move the Skimmer the minimum distance so that no models are left underneath it".

The latter is not actually part of your movement. It is an action, independent from your actual movement, you are told to perform.

If you need another example of this: Which model can move further than its actual movement distance?
The answer should be "none", but then we have this RaW:
"If for some reason a model’s maximum move is insufficient to fit the entire model onto the board, (...) place the model as far onto the table as you can."
Coming in from reserves.

"move the Skimmer the minimum distance so that no models are left underneath it" is a pretty powerful statement. Unlike drop pods we are not reducing the movement so this could potentially go in any direction. The other issue is that we are not told to alter the skimmer's movement so this move is in addition to the skimmer's movement and not part of it.
