Subject: A couple more 30k Emperor's Children Questions - "Martial Pride" and non-Charachter Seargeants
|
 |
Thane of Dol Guldur
|
1) The Emperor's Children entry lists a bolded rule called "Martial Pride", and states that any Character with this Special Rule must declare a challenge... However, no Charachters in the Legion-specific rules have this Special Rule listed, and none in the common Legion army list do either. Am I to take it then that all Charachters in a Emperor's Children army have the "Martial Pride" by virtue of being Emperor's Children?
2) I noticed that all the Power Armor units do not list their Seargeant or equivalent as a Charachter. Sergeants are characters in the 40k codices. Is this intentional? Are Sergeants really not Characters in 30K?

Martial Pride is a rule bundled into the Legiones Astartes rule listed for the units. So it gives all the bonus' of the Legiones Astartes rule in addition to Martial Pride and Exemplars of War for the Emperor's Children.

I don't have the material in front of me ATM, but do you mean "Martial Pride" is a special rule for all Legiones Astartes armies, or that it is particular to Legiones Astartes (Emperor's Children) armies?
Same question for Exemplars of War (is this rule this in Books 1, 2, or 3? I don't remember seeing this rule off hand, but I haven't had much time to review the material, which has been lent to me by a friend a couple days ago).

Its particular to Legiones Astartes (Emperor's Children). Where you take the two rules for the Emperor's Children, Martial Pride and Exemplars of War, and merge them with the Legiones Astartes to gain the Legiones Astartes (Emperor's Children) rule.
Legiones Astartes (Emperor's Children) replaces Legiones Astartes on all units with Legiones Astartes in an Emperor's Children force.
You can find Exemplars of War in book one, on the same page as Martial Pride.

This has been corrected in the most recent versions of the rules. However there's no comprehensive FAQ, but take it as given that sergeants are characters!

An important note if you do not have the red book army lists: the rule has been updated to also grant +1 initiative in challenges.

Well, I only have access to books 1-3. Not a big deal, it just means I'd need to issue challenges with my Searges as well in an Emperor's Children army due to the Martial Pride rule, if they are considered Characters.

Are you referring to the Martial Pride rule? I'm too new to HH to know what "red book army lists" mean. I am being lent HH Books 1-3. Is the update in any of those?
Automatically Appended Next Post: So I looked on the FW site, and none of us do have any of the Red Books they are selling. I guess +1 Initiative in challenges is easy enough to remember.
