Hi all,

I've been messing around trying to write an 1000pt list based on the Slaughtercult formation as a starting point on Daemonkin. It doesn't have to be super competitive, I'll only be playing casual games, but I'd like it not to suck

Slaughtercult - 998pts

Chaos Lord - 180pts (Using the Lord Zhufor model)
Terminator armour
Goredrinker
Power Fist
Sigil of Corruption

8 Khorne Berzerkers - 265pts
Icon of Wrath
8x Chainaxe
Rhino
  - Dozer Blade

8 Chaos Space Marines - 221pts
8x extra CCW
Meltagun
Powerfist
Rhino
  - Dozer Blade

5 Possessed - 210pts
Icon of Wrath
Rhino
  - Dozer Blade

Cultists - 58pts

Chaos Spawn - 32pts

Chaos Spawn - 32pts

TOTAL - 998pts

Two quick notes: Whilst I have a Juggerlord model, and I know how popular/effective they are, I'm not looking to fit one in just yet (I wanna run him with the Gorepack). Also, if I cut the spawn and cultists (plus a few little extras) I can squeeze in a maulerfiend - would that be worthwhile? Or would he just be one huge firing magnet?

Other than that, I'm just looking for general advice to improve upon this.

Thanks all!

looks pretty good for a CC army, will definitely be up in some faces as long as you can make it across the board. What is your game plan with the Lord? I was thinking that you should make room to get him on a juggernaut, deck him out and use the Spawns as shields/escort.

I usually run my CSM lord on a Juggernaut w/ Axe of Blinding Fury, MoK, Sigil of Corp., and VoLW. Now I am not too versed in the demonkin codex, so I guess not all of these options exist. The only reason I mention this is because I run him 5 Spawns and he kicks major butt in CC w/ a 12" move, he usually wipes a squad on the charge with the spawn just sucking up any wounds.

An open mind is like a fortress with its gates unbarred and unguarded

A maulerfiend will draw fire! BUT- if you do that your force becomes a BloodHost detachment and you're gaining a free BT point every turn in addition to Slaughtercult benefits. It may draw fire, but that is other units that aren't drawing fire.. Plus you'll get a BT point if he pops... Don't be afraid to lose units while running Khorne Daemonkin... The more blood spilled the stronger we get!! Khorne Daemonkin has worked best for me when I don't hold back and throw everything into the grinder!!

TBH I think you will find your list a bit slow to get into combat and pretty hard to run around getting objectives if your playing maelstrom.

I've played a couple daemonkin games and anything that moves 12" has been useful, and there are a lot of choices here.

I would say as a rule, go with 3:1 ratio of fast moving to slow moving. So if you take the berzerkers for middle of the board control the rest should be fast moving.

Hounds definately the best unit in the whole army, do yourself a favor go to the store and spend 60 bucks on 2 boxes of 10 chaos warhounds to make 20 fleshhounds.

That alone will make your army crazy good for only 320 points, run 2 squads of 10 and put your juggerlord in one.

I've been having luck with 1 spawn units as well for line breaker maelstrom cards and just going where needed.

Posessed have been bad for me so far, and though I run a blood host detachment I'm thinking of just running a CAD next game without them. They are really easy to kill for what they do and having to wait a turn to charge after disembarking and having no shooting attacks or assault grenades is terrible.

the jugger lord is worth it i think.

i've been running a CAD (with the same two solo spawn) + gorepack. fast, MSU. i use two soul grinders, but thats mostly because i don't have fiends… plus they are still quite good.

i just got my 16th-20th hounds, and i'm curious to try one big unit for the lord, and two smaller ones to run screen and whatnot.

deep striking bloodletters can be very versatile as well.

i really like that bloodthirster axe of ruin

edit:
i usually play these guys at 1500, but that should scale down well enough
i have never had a problem getting tithe points. but my army is very daemon heavy, so i sometimes run out of hosts for apotheosis...

Thanks everyone!

It sounds like Juggerlord + Gorepack is just unavoidably the way to go! Also, I realised I have a serious Lord delivery issue with this list in it's current state - I forgot termies couldn't ride in rhinos
