Subject: Tinting Water Effects/Realistic Water?

Hi all. I'm looking to make a muddy base for one of my larger models. Has anyone tried tinting the Woodland Scenics Water Effects or Realistic Water with GW or Vallejo paints? I know that they recommend using pure pigments, but in the absence of that, I'm wondering if paint alone would work. A buddy of mine suggested ink, as the pigments won't separate and look strange.

Paint does work. Least it has with me. You need to do some tests, because it doesnt take much to make it quite opaque

I've recently been painting a lot of DKoK in a very muddy environment.
I used Humbrol acrylic paints for them, with a flat, slightly watered down Red-Brown paint for the base, then a Tamiya Mud Weathering Stick to get that sticky look.
After that, I used a gloss varnish to dissolve the weathing stick mud down (it's like playdoh almost) and spread it around the base and other areas that would get muddy, the bottom of boots, edges of coats, knees, etc.

I've used yellow citadel paints in Woodland Scenics Water Effects and ended up with a fairly pleasant explosion effect, but as QAR said, a little added paint goes a very long way - my first efforts turned it entirely opaque from only a small dab of the paint.
Mix a bunch of different concentrations and test it out.

I tinted some clear resin with Vallejo fluorescents for filling tiny potion bottles, they ended up much more opaque than I would have liked ideally. Are you sure you need water effects? A little bit of gloss varnish might be just as good for doing wet mud.

Did you mix it first in another pot before pouring in? Or pour and mix?

Yeah.. I'm going for a blast crater that's filled with water that my Onager is going to be walking through, so I need the depth and transparency using Realistic Water and Water Effects.

I mixed it in a cleaned out Pringles lid. Mixing on the scenery would be a very difficult endeavour.
