I... actually don't know. Help?

So, I have this old squirt gun that I want to paint up. If I rough it up with some sandpaper, prime it and then paint it, will the paint stick?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I want the paint to stick under water, if that helps.

Get an oil based paint then but something that doesn't dry on into a rubber glove that comes off easily. Lol I been painting some of my nephews toys myself. Did some Avengers miniatures recently, got some green army men I'll do for them too.

Rustoleum / krylon as your undercoat will be fine - acrylic paints will stick to that, and it will stick to the gun.

Be sure to seal the hell out of it though, and if it is going into a fish tank, make sure that the sealant is non-toxic
