Just trying out ideas for the Warp Cult list, with a Word Bearers allied contingent. I've guessed at the Rogue Psyker being 35 points base (as in IA13) but we'll see when they release a FAQ!!
Force Commander (Cult Hoard, Tainted Flesh) - Hand Flamer [130]
Rogue Psyker - Alpha Level [60]
Inducted Levy Squad - 40 models, CC weapons [80]
Inducted Levy Squad - 40 models, CC weapons [80]
Inducted Levy Squad - 40 models, CC weapons [80]
Mutant Spawn - 10 models [260]
Auxilia Malcador - Sponson Lascannons, Hull Lascannon, Flare Shield [290]
Auxilia Malcador - Sponson Lascannons, Hull Lascannon, Flare Shield [290]
Legion Centurion (Word Bearers) - Librarian Lvl 2 [115]
Legion Tactical Squad - Rhino [185]
Legion Terminator Squad - Plasma Blaster, 3 Thunder Hammers, 1 Lightning Claw, Sgt with Dual Claws [240]
Anvillus Pattern Dreadclaw [100]
Derideo Dreadnought - Anvillus Autocannons, Ailolos Missile Launcher [220]
TOTAL - 2130 points - 120 points spare!
So, 120 Zealot troops running forward, all with a 6+ save and 6+ Feel No Pain, causing Fear, accompanied by 10 Mutant Spawn Beasts and 5 Terminators assaulting out of a Dreadclaw. That should scare people, right? THEN, then plan is to have the Librarian and the Rogue Psyker both take Demonology and go summoning heralds and daemons, increasing the number of models on the board. The Rogue Psyker is a Daemon so immune to the usual Perils problem.
My worry is that I haven't packed in enough big hitters for a Heresy-era game. Are my two Malcadors really gonna cut it? Do I need to swap for something bigger? Can I take a Knight? I still have 120 points spare but I'm struggling to find anything in the Warp Cults list that will help, since things like Rapier Batteries and Fire Support squads will be on Snap Fire only because of the Cult Hoard rules...

I've not seen the warp cult list yet , tho it looks promising.Knights may be better than malcadors
There is a problem with the allied detachment tho. As per the latest faq Librarians are support officers , so cannot be compulsory hqs . You can get a psychic level on other wb hqs tho.
Word bearers normally have to take an extra hq, but that may not be the case in an allied detachment. Automatically Appended Next Post: I would get some chainfists on the terminators to increase their threat level.
A diabolist is also a daemon so could be a better summoner. Automatically Appended Next Post: Would putting the word bearer character on a bike/jetbike and have him in with the spawn be possible? A chaplain could make them hit really hard. A void shield harness would also be good.

Interesting - yeah, I could easily swap one of the malcadors out for a knight with the spare points - I guess it would do the job of fighting big tanks/primarchs/other Knights better. Looking at it, the errant is my first pick, but what do you think about the Questoris versions? Does the Lord of War slot allow access to any type of Knight?
I don't need an extra character in an allied detachment - only in a primary one.
So, I can swap the Librarian for a Chaplain or a Diabolist for 10 more points but only psychic level 1 - the Diabolist is more obviously useful as a summoner but yeah, the chaplain would work in the beasts squad on a bike. To do this I'd probably have to lose a couple of spawn or something else.. Of course, he could just be a regular centurion on a bike, since Word Bearers can give them that extra psychic level. This saves 30 points, but I lose Zealot.

It would depend on what is listed as permissable lords of war for the militia. It might not allow knights.
Lancer would be my preference if any .
I think zealot is worth it. Remember the chaplain also gets a free power weapon.

Unfortunately, it doesn't really state, and the list doesn't display the regular Age of Darkness FOC.
However, the Imperial Militia ARE allies with Mechanicum forces.
I also can't find where, in the regular Crusade Army List, it says that a Legion force can take a Knight Lord of War anyway. Can they, or are Knights unavailable outside their own list in book 4?

Knights are only available as Lords of war for taghmata or as an allied detachment from book 4 AFAIK

Interesting, though slightly off-topic, but it seems that in the regular Age of Darkness FOC, the Lord of War is a separate detachment, just like the fortifications and the allies.
So, I should be able to fill that Detachment with a single Lord of War selection from any list, as long as I abide by the Allies matrix and the Traitor/Loyalist rules?

I was just looking into this actually..The age of darkness force orgs don't say they have to be the same faction like the 7th ed ones do. Its just always assumed they do cos/.. that's how the force org has always worked. You are right that its a separate detachment... but this was written for 6th ed...
hmmmm Automatically Appended Next Post: I've just been told that book 5 does specify that the LOW has to be the same faction as the primary.

Right, so that seems to mean that the Warp Cults list can ONLY take the Auxilia Baneblade and Stormlord as Lord of War.
The list in Betrayal and the list in LACAL both give a list of possible Lords of War choices for a Legion Primary Detachment (War Machine Detachment, etc). The Solar Auxilia and Mecahnicum lists specify what their LoW choices can be. The Warp Cult has no comparable section. Baneblade or nothing then!!
What do you think, naked Baneblade or two Malcadors with Lascannon Sponsons and Siege Armour? Both around the same amount of points...!

Murr. .. well the baneblade is a lot cheaper and has that awesome template.
It's also better in 40k as the renegade version throws out a zealot aura. Automatically Appended Next Post: do they have aircraft?

Well, here's the comparison. I immediately thought that splitting my HP into two sixes and adding lascannons would be a good thing. But then, two big blasts at high AP are pretty good for tank-killing, right? But is one big HP9 vehicle a liability in Heresy gaming?
Malcador is 6HP, 14/13/12, Superheavy and has a Battlecannon, Hull Lascannon, Two Lascannon Sponsons, Siege Armour (Front 14) = 275pts (both for 550)
Baneblade with sponsons is 9HP, 14/13/12, Superheavy and has a Baneblade cannon (S9 AP2 10" Blast), Demolisher cannon, Three TL Heavy Bolters, 2 Lascannons = 585 pts
I'm expecting some aircraft but not whole air-heavy armies. I have the Deredeo, but short of adding a fortification there's not much else I can bring in the Cult list.

I was thinking a squadron of thubderbolts might make a decent Lord of war choice.

Yeah, only in a Legion army though! Poor Auxilia can't get Sub Orbital Strike Wings. Though I guess I have no fast attack choices yet - three separate hinder bolts??

I think any army in the age of darkness can take a sub orbital strike wing. But yeah possibly better having 1-2 in fast attack. Make up for the lack of anti tank elsewhere and competent anti air .

Unfortunately, I checked some rules with Forge World and got the reply this morning!
So, the eligible Lords of War choices are listed in each army list. Sub Orbital Strike wing is only in the Legion list, and listed as a Solar Auxilia option I think. The Auxilia ONLY get Baneblades or Stormhammers.
But also, my guess was correct and Rogue Psykers are 35pts base.

Ok, a new list with all those ideas added up. Is THIS a terrifying Heresy Army?
Force Commander (Cult Hoard, Tainted Flesh) - Power Fist [135]
Rogue Psyker - Alpha Level [60]
Inducted Levy Squad - 40 models, CC weapons [80]
Inducted Levy Squad - 40 models, CC weapons [80]
Inducted Levy Squad - 40 models, CC weapons [80]
Mutant Spawn - 10 models [260]
Auxilia Malcador - TL Lascannon, Sponson Lascannons, Hull Demolisher, Siege Armour [305]
Auxilia Malcador - TL Lascannon, Sponson Lascannons, Hull Demolisher, Siege Armour [305]
Legion Centurion (Word Bearers) - Chaplain, Jetbike, Lvl1 Psyker [160]
Legion Tactical Squad - [150]
Legion Terminator Squad - Plasma Blaster, 2 Thunder Hammers, 1 Chainfist, 2 Lightning Claws [230]
Anvillus Pattern Dreadclaw [100]
Derideo Dreadnought - Anvillus Autocannons, Ailolos Missile Launcher [220]
Aegis Defense Line - Icarus Lascannon [85]
TOTAL - 2250
120 Cultists (WS2 BS2, Rending, Zealot, FNP6+, Fear) led by the Demagogue and 10 Spawn (Fearless, Rage, etc) led by the Chaplain run forwards immediately, supported by a backfield Dreadclaw with Terminators assaulting out in Turn 2.
2 Malcadors with Hull Demolishers for AP2 killing and AT, and a Deredeo for AA, with the Tactical Squad holding a backfield objective and manning the Icarus Lascannon - they didn't have much of a job to do in their Rhino!

Yup, that's one of the benefits of being Tainted Flesh. I have a suspicion Fear is going to be a lot more useful in heresy too...
I agree I'll struggle against the Knights, but doesn't everyone? I guess I'll have to swamp them with cultist bodies - zealot makes them really good tarpits!!
