Hey guys need some help with a 600 point list for a "story" campaign between friends. I say story because some of my friends have gone off and built beastly lists...

opponents will be Guard, Nids, Skitarii, Grey knights, Orks, Necrons. And we will be using maelstrom cards.

So list one

5 Sternguard (sgt is warlord)

Which do you think is better, or what would you take ?

I think list 2 is better. First of all, it's battleforged so you get objective secured. Secondly, it has a thunderfire cannon that will wreck stuff at lower points.

I would say list 2, just unsure of the lack of consistent anti-tank. Maybe drop a marine for a MG just to be safe? There is a good chance one of the other players will bring a AV13+ to the game at this point level.

we've all agreed to no LoW or armour 13 plus

I just don't understand why the majority of SM players spawn so much tactical squads. You will get pwned by any horde so easy :( So if you ask for my humble opinion - go straight for LIST 2 and consider adding a Rhino. Thunderfire Canon is a great choice to counter Hordes and from your post I see you will play mainly against hordes. It's only strong CON of the Canon is that it dies too easy and it's expensive as feth - 60 pounds or something. But HEY you got a Tech Marine for Free .
