Hey folks,
A sort of batrep for you. My mate who's relocated down south is back up for a week to sort out junk so we decided to have a massive trek battle - borg cube and mirror universe vs Fed & ds9 vs romulan and cardassian (the last being me).

Our foes compose themselves - Target Prime, Regent's Flagship and ISS Defiant + a 120 pt Borg Super-Cube, vs DS9, Ent-D, Defiant, Yeager

Basic Keldon, Reklar with Dukat/Boheeka, 2 fighter squads. Scimitar, Drone, something else.

You are mistaken. There are 5 lights.

Bang! Told ya.

Meanwhile...

Whilst we had a good time, I wouldn't say the game was fun. Wizkids power creep and ham fisted attempts to create balance make gw look reasonable. 2 Squadrons of cardassian fighters should not be able to take down the biggest ship in the game in one turn without breaking a sweat. So yeah, reminded why I don't play this much anymore. Ironically, I've just been made admin of STAW: Scotland group on FB

Thanks for the Battle Rep! Did you guys play some kind of scenario or something, or was it "last ship standing"?

My group has had some success playing large scale battles (6+ players on a table) by using scenarios, or special rules (can't be attacked the first turn of the game). The big, big game we did had 12 players on two tables with a wormhole connecting the tables. Interesting, wacky, fun things like that make the game more enjoyable if you ask me.

The game is what it is these days. If you show up with 100 points and I show up with 100 points and just play the game while eating some pretzels and drinking a beer, it's quite fun. Enjoyable even!

Shift things over to a 120 point tournament, with a prize ship available, and things get bad. Very bad, very quickly. You've got to put some restrictions on your tournaments or use house rules or something to ensure some kind of "fair play"- though I'm not sure such a thing is even possible anymore with STAW.

It was capture DS9 (key to the alpha quadrant), and faction pure: we weren't allowed to attack DS9, though it could attack us. Foolishly, the Fed player tried to attack us, rather than let us go through each other first; however, we should've given him 240 points on top of DS9, I think, rather than including DS9. Still, it was good up to a point and DS9 did take out my little Keldon Beer and pretzels is totally the way to go, I fear.

BTW, do check out my blog - I don't want to Forum spam, but my custom space station scratch build is over there, along with cards for X-Wing and attack wing.

I checked out your blog last night, nice job on the station You know this means that you now have to include it in a battle report it's a new rule of the forum, whenever you post pics of a cool custom it must be in a battle report.
