I've been working on my blood angels army for a bit. Haven't really played just painting and assembling. Was wondering with the new marine codex if there are any chapter tactics that make for another assault focused marine army? I'm not a stickler with "the red ones must be blood Angels," and like the idea of using the same models to play slightly differently just by using different chapter tactics.

Well, SM are not the best cc fighters in the 40k universe.
If you play them, stay away from cc.

It has 7 HQs, 2 Troop types with Dedicated Transports, 5 Elite units, 5 Fast Attack units, 6 Heavy Support units, 2 Formations with unique units not in the rest of the codex, and 2 LOW choices.

Black Templar!!!
Whenever a unit takes a casualty in the shooting phase or in overwatch, they get Rage and counterattack.
Also, there is Helbrecht who can call his own WAAAGH which gives the whole army hatred and fleet. And now that dreads have chapter tactics, they get to benefit from that rule.
But something I like to look at is the Honor Guard. a unit of 7 with a banner and 1 relic blade cost about 220 points. which is a lot, but this unit is amazing. 2 attacks each, all have power weapons (of your choice mind you). Stick Grimaldus in there for the hatred, fearless, and FNP. If they lose somebody in shooting they get rage.
So lets say they come in from a drop pod and lose 2 guys. On the charge you will get 31 power weapon attacks rerolling all misses. Oh and then grimaldus gets to swing.

Thanks guys! I have only seen some of the bits of information floating around about the new marine codex and it seems to be pretty well rounded and in general same things as BA but for less points or higher stats for same points. I do also like having the extra options of more units, want an excuse to paint centurions and dreadnoughts are my absolute favorite model which seem to be much more playable in regular marines.
Sounds to me like Black Templars are the way to go. especially because I actually had been painting my BA black/grey/red anyway, not that I care if the color matches the official codex color, successor chapter hand-wavium. But bonus.
Can I ask, for modeling purposes since I'm still in the process of assembly and painting yet don't have the new SM codex, from a modeling perceptive are there any things I should consider? certain weapon combos or model restrictions Black Templars have? I don't want to model with certain weapons/options/units to find that they don't work with this chapter.
