Concept is basic. Scouts Take Positions to make sure you Assault Squads don't drift to much off the target you want them to assault. You first turn you will have most of your army Dropping on your opponent with ease. 4 pods will come in with both the Assault Squads. Combat squads the devastators so you can deny most of the overwatch while freeing up your grav cents to get rid of vehicles, MCs, and elite infantry. If they running MSU Combat squad the Assaults otherwise keep them together for maximum damage. Suggest either Star Phantoms or Ultramarines for Chapter Tactics.

Interceptor is the bane of this list. Alpha Potential is off the charts.

for those that dont know these are the sky hammer formation rules.

Shock Deployment: All units in a Skyhammer Annihilation Force start the game in Deep Strike Reserve. Instead of using the normal deployment and reserve rules for these units, you can, during deployment, choose whether this Formation will arrive during your first or second turn. The entire Skyhammer Annihilation Force automatically arrives on the turn you choose—no Reserve Rolls are required. Ignore this Formation's Drop Pods for the purposes of the Drop Pod Assault special rule.

First the Fire, then the Blade: On the turn they arrive from Deep Strike Reserve, the Devastator Squads in a Skyhammer Annihilation Force have the Relentless special rule and the Assault Squads can charge even though they arrived from Reserves that turn.

Suppressing Fusillade: A unit targeted by a Skyhammer Annihilation Force's Devastator Squad in the Shooting phase must take a Morale test at the end of the phase on 3D6, regardless of how many casualties were inflicted. If the test is failed, the enemy unit does not Fall Back, but must immediately Go to Ground. If the test is passed, the enemy unit is unable to fire Overwatch for the rest of the turn.

Leave No Survivors: Assault Squads in a Skyhammer Annihilation Force can use their Jump Packs in both the Movement phase and the Assault phase. If an Assault Squad from a Skyhammer Annihilation Force charges a unit that has Gone to Ground as a result of the Suppressing Fusillade special rule, that Assault Squad can reroll failed To Hit and To Wound rolls in the ensuring Assault phase.

My question would be about the rules. Would the Chaplain benefit from the Skyhammer rules? It seems its pretty specific about this applying to the Assault Squads. I'm always fuzzy when it comes to special rules and how they interact with IC's that join units. Most of the time the rules state units with a model with this special rule benefits from special rule. These rules look to be applying to specific units themselves.

Other than that, Seems nice. I wonder if the Skitarii are even needed at this point.

I kind of liked the idea of doing more Drop Pods with beacons attached to sarges. have those drop turn 1 becuase your opponent can counter deploy your big bomb. Turn 2 bring down the rain after they have moved for objectives or in counter to turn 1.

ICs would not benefit. Teleport homers do not help with Assault Marines nor Drop Pods IIRC.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

Ics would benefit... Part of the squad for "all intents and purposes"

Double check the IC section in the rulebook that specifies when special rules would not apply.

40 points left. All marines combat squaded. Null deployment.
6 pods( skitari+dev) and 15 ASM, coming in.

How do we actually stop something like this aside from going 2nd with our own null deployment. Even giving all interceptor on a tau hardly seems enough.

I would go ultra marines for the re-rolls, a lot of the formations power comes from the one turn it comes in, so you want to maximize your ability to do what you are trying with the potential to reroll.

take locater beacons on the drop pods, if something happens to the scouts this still gives you the ability to place the assault squads within 6" of the pods for no scatter.

Teleport homers only work for models in terminator armor so the scouts don't do anything with them.

I don't see why independent characters couldn't benefit from the formation. They can join the squad. I think as long as they have the ability to deepstrike (terminator armor etc) they should be ok.
