Mek Gunz are good, but expensive to buy. You can have 15 in a CAD, but the GW kit is so expensive!

I've noticed the deffrolla/killkannon upgrade kits for battlewagons seem to have enough orky-looking stuff to make a generic artillery piece, maybe sprinkled with bits from a trukk kit for variations, and each one is only 9 quid!

Anyone else got any experience with this, or got any tips for making cheap Mek Gunz?

I dont know about alternatives or using the BW bits, but I am in the middle of making some very cheap Mek gunz, they take a little effort and time, but thats the choice, money or time typically

So these are made using connectors and bits of stuff i've found. The bases are jet propelled, using scenery bush stuff. The mid points are magnetised so I can swap the tops basically.
Don't know if this is what your looking for, but if I had to guess cost wise your looking at like £1-2 at max each. Thats including buying bases.

If you think your important, in the great scheme of things. Do the water test.

Put your hands in a bucket of warm water,
then pull them out fast. The size of the hole shows how important you are.
I think we should roll some dice, to see if we should roll some dice, To decide if all this dice rolling is good for the game.

I have the large Necron Ghost Ark gun thingy that is going to find itself cut into pieces and added to a trukk kit to give me 4 lobbas.

As I have 6 + gunz in army list I use these:

Slightly modded for the Lobba. Used a tube I found for a round barrel. The others that come with the kits are great for Trakktor and Kustom Mega Kannon, IMHO.

Get your models on the table and looking good!

Remeber, standard Kannons and Lobba Mek Gunz are about a tenner cheaper than the "specialist" Mek Guns, but I did have the same thought process as you.
I built 4 specialist Mek Gunz out of one Mek Gun Kit, a Trukk and some spares from my bitz box. Have a look on Heresy HERE to see what I mean.
I'm not claiming credit for the idea, I found someone who had done something similar via Google, and swiped the idea, somewhat succesfully.
So it can be done, but it's never really "cheap".

This is how they turned out...

Hey,

This was another one of my ideas for a lobba I stumbled upon when browsing some bit sites, Idea being that its jet propelled. This is the initial prototype I just whipped up, finally got my ass into gear when reading your thread So I'd estimate costs at;
£1.00-£1.50 for the orgryn gun
£1.00 for the plasticard, base and basing, scenery tree stuff.

So probably looking around £2.50 per Lobba and thats more than likely an overestimate to be safe.

Just going to go finish it up.
