Richard Luong is the person responsible for the art in the Cthulhu Wars boardgame (Green Eye Games/Petersen Games), this KS is for an art book of his work

Hardcover Art Book $35

I am extremely fortunate to have had the opportunity to work on Cthulhu Wars. Before the project, I had worked in games as an illustrator and concept artist. My art didn't garner much attention. Cthulhu Wars launched and was a huge success. All of a sudden people took notice of my work and for the first time ever, I had fans.

From this success, I decided to start a Facebook art page called Tentacles and Teeth. Slowly more and more people began to find my work and enjoy my visions! This inspired me to create more and evolve. This book is a collection of work that represents my evolution as an artist. With your help, I can make this book a reality.
•8.5 x 11 Hardcover - Matte black over 3mm board and black gloss cover
•160 Pages on 157gsm Storaenso gloss art paper
•Binding: Sewn signatures, head and tail bands, case bound

What's inside?
•Concept art and illustrations from Cthulhu Wars and design notes.
•Commissions and personal pieces posted through Tentacles and Teeth Facebook page. Most never printed before.
•An in-depth look into Richard's creative process.
•A behind the scenes into sculpting miniatures for Cthulhu Wars.

the KS will also fun a Hound of Tindalos miniature with Cthulhu Wars rules written by Sandy Petersen

Kickstarter Exclusive Hounds of Tindalos

Cthulhu Wars Expansion Add-On $15

Sandy Petersen has been gracious enough to allow me to offer an Exclusive Hounds of Tindalos Expansion for Cthulhu Wars! Each 80mm miniature will come with a loyalty card designed by Sandy. Jo Brumby of Fenris Games has collaborated with me to design an amazing Sculpt showing the Hound emerging from a 90 degree angle.

Gameplay Features:
•"The Hound is more powerful the later in the game he is used - early on it is easier to drive him into an uninhabited spot. His free movement and teleportation make him an awkward enemy to defend against."

Kickstarter Exclusive Cthulhu Miniature Add-On $35

I was not expecting to be able to work with a superstar artist like Martin Canale. He is the sculptor behind some of Sideshow Collectibles most iconic statues. Martin Canale of The Gore Group has created a beautiful and powerful Cthulhu miniature exclusively for this Kickstarter. Standing at 150mm, it's in scale with other table top games and can be used with Cthulhu Wars. With a very small production run, this will be a highly sought out collectors item and become the essential Cthulhu miniature!

Buff flexing cthulhu, ha why not?

Tindalos tho, eh. Flat on two sides, so he looks wrong anywhere on the board that isnt the corner. I think i prefer the goofy achtung cthulhu one cominng out of the wall.

Shipping costs to Europe are prohibitive, sadly.

One of the frustrations of ever spiralling postage that no (small) company can solve

at least the book is VAT free (here in the UK)

and the hound which is the only thing with Cthulhu Wars gameplay rules by itself does not hit the tax threshold if you just went for the PDF book (again here in the UK)

Very good progress on this one over the weekend,

it stands at $43K+ of a funding goal of $50K so looks pretty certain to fund so if you're interested in the art book

or just want the Hound (or Cthulhu) mini to add to your Cthulhu Wars game take a look

(A backer only update has also given some cool high res wallpapers with Cthulhu Wars art to jazz up your desktop)

Update #8 from Cthulhu - The Art of Richard Luong

Jun 26 2015

Funded! Free Stuff! News!

Success! Thank you so much for the support of my art! As a token of my appreciation I wanted to award everyone that backed me in the $100 and up tier a HUGE set of 8x10 inch art prints. They are KS exclusive and I will never print these again.

People who missed out on these tiers because they were limited can still get in on these prints as well as all the Stretch goals upcoming by joining the new tier opening up.

My profit margins were already very low because of my low print. To be able to still offer stretch goals to people, I had to open up a new tier. This is still completely optional for people, but I am essentially offering you all Kickstarter exclusive limited prints at the cheapest possible price.

For everyone else in lower tiers, you will still receive all book upgrades if I am able to hit those stretch goals.

Please take a look at the new visual guide I will be adding to the campaign page as well as stretch goals.

Thanks again so much and please help in guerrilla marketing and spreading the word through every back channel and forum you know. I couldn't do this without you all.

Thanks!

Rich

Update #13 ℹ Jul 4 2015

Holy Schnikes!

I want to thank Sandy Petersen and the team at Petersen games for giving my the shout out in their last Cthulhu Wars update. It brought many new backers to the project!

The free Stretch goal Art prints have been decided, and the final four will be the set of 4 horrors.

The Final 4 Stretch Goal Art Prints!

I honestly didn't expect to raise this much, so I will have to be creative in coming up with other things to offer lol.

At $75K I was thinking of offering a HUGE 28x40 inch poster of Cthulhu as an add on for $25 in the US and $35 Internationally. Shipping is already included in the price and would ship separately in a tube from the rest of the order.

I am looking into the possibilities of Game mats, but my printers don't do those normally and would have to work with another company to get them. I would need to make sure the demand is high enough to warrant me making a print run. My estimate is that they would be about $20 and would ship with the rest of your orders.

Please let me know your thoughts! Tell me if you're at all interested in any of these things. I am only going to go forward with it if you guys want them.

As always, thanks so much!

Rich

Update #23 ℹ

Jul 15 2015

Holy Carps!!! Giant Cthulhu!

Today has been ridiculous so far! I can't believe we hit 90K!!!!

I wasn't expecting to get here, so I am completely floored.

I now unleash a 27 inch by 39 inch poster of Cthulhu!

It is massive and will be a great piece to cover up a hole in the wall.

I am charging the lowest I possibly can on this. Unlike the $10 posters you see in stores, this one is not mass produced and this price includes the shipping. I will sell copies in my Etsy store next year when these ship but it will be $15 more. This price is a thank you to you all and it covers my costs to print and ship.

Thanks so much and lets make this make this last day awesome and burn this B#%CH down!

•$25 shipped in the US
•$35 shipped everywhere else in the world!

All prices already include shipping!

Giant 27 inch by 39 inch poster!

All the stretch goals have been unlocked,

the book is blinged up with extra quality end pages and materials

so if you're interested pledge now

I lost my sanity upon gazing into the eyes of Cthulhu and backed for everything.

Didn't realize there was a little boat sinking near Cthulhu's legs.

I like the design of this one a lot more than either the one in Cthulhu Wars or the big Reaper one.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

So tempted, if only I hadn't banned myself from backing anymore kickstarters.

There’s a difference between having a hobby and being a narcissist.
