Just curious if these two regiments see a lot of action together.

Warhammer 40k Wiki is your friend. Use it and enjoy the benefits.

There are many instances of multiple regiments working together during large campaigns, alongside the Imperial Navy and Astartes forces.

Take it easy.

Barring the occasional GW shoehorning.. unlikely.

Cadia is the Segmentum Obscurus.
Catachan is in the Ultima Segmentum.
Not only are they different Segmentums, but there's a whole other Segmentum between them.

Is it bad I misread the title and thought it said "Do canadians and catachans operate together often?"?

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Well considering Catachan Devils are now the specialist regiments commonly seen attached to other regiments, it's possible for them to work together very often.

Fluff is one thing, using the models another. Back when I had an Imperial Guard army my regular mooks were Cadian models and Catachans represented Veterans. The "normal" soldiers had a lot of stuff - backpacks, radios, thingies hanging everywhere - they still remembered that losing your kit might get you executed. The veterans had ditched everything that didn't directly help them kill the enemy.

As often as you put them on the table together.

I just want the army to make sense fluff wise.

I was going to do Catachan platoon, with cadian veterans...

Just use the Catachan and Cadian models and say that they're from regiments of your own choosing (i.e. some other home world). Done.

It's a pet peeve of mine that Catachans turn up in so many conflicts. There's what, 12 million people on Catachan? This population would sustain the creation of so few regiments that seeing any Catachans anywhere would be extremely rare.

Same with Cadians. There is only 850 million people on the entire planet of Cadia (by comparison, that is far less than the population of India, a single country on Earth) yet somehow they show up in every single conflict in the galaxy. Even if all 850 million were in the IG (actually most of their population is in the PDF and never leaves the planet) that would be ridiculous.

Catchans are highly specialised to be best used, but I could see them working along side some others with jingle warfare training, maybe looking and feeling vastly superior but offering sage like advice and training them up to at least be bearble by there standards

Where did that number came from? 850 billion seems more in keeping with the fluff about it.

The 3.5 Chaos Marine codex, apparently.

What that number counts, however, is anyone's guess. Probably bureaucrats.

With the nature of catchan as a planet, its fact it's the deadliest planet known to mankind contender.

Getting a accurate count may not be easy.
