Hi i have lots of miniatures but i dont have the hardback rulebook is it worth buying before it gets taken off store shelfes on the 26th this month i have found it for £19 new

the reason im worried is if age of sigmar makes alot of the armies and stuff i have now unusable etc and if the hardback rulebook also tells some story background thats way more intresting i would like to have that just for nostalgic reasons

have not been in to GW for the last 7 years only just recently started again

so should i buy the 8th edition to be safe??

just wanted to hear some opinions also i do plan to buy age of sigmar but still if some of the rule changes are for the worse should i be better safe than sorry??

any advice is appreciated

Cheers

Well you'd need both the Rulebook and Armybooks to actually play. The armybooks are on their way out to it seems.

Poor ignorant guardsmen, it be but one of many of the great miracles of the Emperor! The Emperor is magic, like Harry Potter, but more magic! A most real and true SPACE WIZARD! And for the last time... I'm not a space plumber.

I'm not sure. There are only rumors floating around, nothing definitive as of yet.

The price for those books is probably going to skyrocket after they go OOP.

yeah just asked GW

Hi there!

Thank you for your email. I'm afraid that at the moment we do not have any information about the Age of Sigmar - all I can recommend doing at this time is keeping an eye on the webstore and White Dwarf as all re-releases and new products are advertised on there first.

I'm sorry I cannot be of more help this time

Well would be nice if they gave some info before they actually started to take the old ones off maybe NeXT white dwarf will reveal some

either way thanks for your help will save my Cash until age of sigmar

Wait until after AoS drops, people will be dumping their books on e-Bay en masse for peanuts. You can get 6th and 7th dirt cheap, I see no reason why it should be any different with 8th.

The BRB is a good read, plenty of fluff and a huge narrative campaign.

I think it's worth a purchase.

Pick it up on eBay after the new edition is released... Should be able to pick it up cheap.

And if you don't want to wait, you can get the Island of Blood compact version of the rulebook off eBay for cheap already.

All current rulebooks and army books will go cheap on eBay when AoS is out.

Island of Blood is what will go up in value.

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

Why do you say IoB will rise?

Because the sculpts will become OOP and there are some really nice sculpts in there for both Skaven and High Elf players that aren't available outside.

They will become sort after and the box will rise in price over time.

Interesting. I only question because there seems to still be more BfSP goblins and dwarfs than anybody can deal with.

I plan on eventually getting a copy of each edition of the rules for both WHFB and 40k, that way if GW ever tanks, the rules get too out of whack, or the army I want to play gets dropped, I'll have a choice of which edition to fall back on to continue enjoying

We're gonna need another Timmy!

Yeah I bought up all the 6th and 7th materials for a few dollars per armybook. I plan to do the same when Sigmar comes out for eighth. Although it will probably be a bit more expensive since they're hardcover and color. I also need more gaming shelf space but that's kind of a secondary concern.

I hope this isn't against forum rules but if anyone did want to pick up an 8th edition rule book then there is a rather good seller on ebay at the moment selling rules + dice + templates for only £15 with free shipping. There are only 9 of these left though so you might want to be quick!

Again, sorry if this is against the rules - I'm not selling these personally, this is just a link to an ebay seller...

I'm personally of the opinion that many of the starter sets and especially the limited GW stuff can be a great profit spinner if you are prepared to stow a few boxes away unopened for a decade or so... You see the occasional box of Necromunda or Warhammer Quest pop up on ebay and sell for several hundred pounds... They are definitely a good investment if you have the long-term storage space to keep boxes in pristine condition...

Just play Beastmen, you can find their rulebook for around 20.00 on ebay. Really though, depends on the army.

They'll spike in the short term ; medium to long term, they'll be 5-7 bucks apiece USD. OOP books always spike and then diminish. You can even find cool stuff like Hordes of Chaos and Storm of Chaos for 5 bucks in great condition if you know where to look.

But yes, in the short term until the dust settles from AoS, expect 8th ed books to jump in price. Wait 6 months or so, and they'll come down. In a year, people will be nearly giving them away ; UNLESS... AoS completely fizzles, and sinks. Then expect 8th ed books to be quite hot for a while.

... 20 bucks for beastmen ? Go to bartertown. YOu can get it for 5-8 bucks. Post an ad that says W: Beastmen current army book H: 10 bucks shipped media mail.

You'll get responses.

Hell, current hardcover 8th ed books run 18 - 25 on bartertown currently.

Seriously, if you know where to look you can get some awesome deals - ebay is the online place to buy of last resort for me. Only if i absolutely cannot find it anywhere else.
