Great model range too. I really enjoy my GK, even when not just spamming the most competitive choices (libo's, terms, NDK)

They are really fun with allies too. (I like purifiers in an allied drop pod. Hilarious)

They hit like bus, but need to get in the face. Which is easy with first turn DS and teleport jumps. It'll be a nice change from guard to, much less model count. I mean like 20-25 models in an army is a lot. It can also be their downfall though.

Down with Allies, Solo 2016!

Do you like Librarians, Terminators and Dreadknights ? Teleporting and Shunting ? If so, welcome aboard !

GK are a mono build and mono play style - that may or may not bother you.

Grey Knights are a master class army that challenges the player to be the best. It can dominate each phase of the game, and is designed to win at Maelstrom. Due to the fairly small selection of unit choices, people call them a mono-build army; however, the truth is that you have several good build options that each focus on different aspects of the game more so that other builds, allowing for style and personality.

Don't listen to the nay sayers, they're all still butt hurt over 5th edition, and can't seem to get over this being 7th.

Pro:
Good mid range firepower
Relatively cheap to start
Best Psychic phase in the game
Fairly mobile force

Cons:
Only 1-2 viable builds. Nearly all of the PA miniatures are terrible, so you better like running Terminators.
Models are expensive point wise, but gain no durability for that. Meaning that they are very easy to kill with weight of fire. Units are forced to operate in the optimal range for their counters. Dreadknights have to jump into the teeth of melta and plasma for example.
Very unforgiving of mistakes. Its tough to play them correctly, and you can lose quickly.
Allies are almost required. You can get away without if you are a very good player, but otherwise you want to take some allies. Like Imperial Knights.

Con: lose consistently to the lowly mono-BA. Not a good list, imo. This precludes them from being easy to play or very powerful. It's actually better to play other IoM lists entirely, imo.

GK are tough to play competitively, but are a fantastic Army. They are fragile as hell due to the abundance of AP3 & AP2 in the game right now, but with Stormbolters, Power Weapons, and Psychic Powers, they can hit pretty hard and are fun as hell to play.

Hence get crushed by ap2 spam! I already covered that one! Then again this is also true of the BA and all SM armies so GK are bad against basically everything the BA are bad against too. There is a counter to this though - it's called invisible cents with Dragio and Tiggy = GG BA.

Your list will be pretty straightforward. Take a librarian as your HQ, minimal upgrades. The other options, like a brothe captain with a psycannon, or the sanctic demonology spam librarian, aren't bad, but I've found those points better spent elsewhere.

Take 3 Dreadknights with teleporter and psycannon, a force weapon, and maybe an incinerator if you have the points. You want 3, unless you've got a lot of points in allies, so you won't take the nemesis strike force, but that's not an issue really.

Take Draigo, and either stick him with 10 Terminators or an allied unit (Centurions). He's beefy anf gets you Gate, and between Gate and.the teleporters on Dreadknights, you won't ever need to really make use of the NSF anyway, so just take a CAD for objective secured.

Fill your remaining points with Terminators and/or allies. If, and only if, you run tons of allies, you can save points on min troops by taking strike squads, but they suck so avoid that if possible.

You can also, at certain point levels, swap a unit of Terminators for Paladins. Some GK players will tell you paladins are terrible, but they're dumbasses. You need to combine them with draigo, and they are tricky to play, and they mainly work at specific point levels, but they perform so well for me at many large tournaments against competitive lists that I can't take the naysayers seriously.

Also, always max out psycannons, and take a couple hammers in each unit. Other cc upgrades are not really important, only bother buying them if you don't have better stuff to spend the points on. They're not bad, you just already beat the crap out of everything in assault generally, so you don't really need them.

GK dont need Tiggy to get Invis, we can roll it just fine on our own!

Mattel forgot to say blood angels are the worst iom army.. below even dark angels. Sister of battle.... Actually I think they are the worst army to own right now. Poor ba players. Gk are cool though man. A lot of good points in this thread.

I know everyone is saying to spam Dreadknights, but they're not necessary to spam to win. Are they awesome? Yup. But they're not the end-all, be-all. I took third at Adepticon Highlander with only one (obviously). In that format, my Terminators were usually the MVPs.

Its not really possible to spam DKs anyway.

They're 200ish points with proper loadouts, and there are only 2 HS slots in a NSF. So 2 at most, unless you go for a second NSF. Not terribly difficult, but then if you are playing a typical pt level of 1500-2000 you are only looking at 2-3 at most. 4 if you really try, and only then do you really qualify as spamming. And you've made an unbalanced list to do that.

I agree - the star of the show is ALMOST ALWAYS my 10 man term squad with GKL with DLD. I take 2 PsyC 2 Hammer and 8 Halberd. It usually lives all game and destroys many squads.
