Id like something to take out superwalkers, and some people told me this was a good tank to do it for IG
Did I get a good price on it or overpaid?

Just trying to get a feel for prices.

Yeah, i would consider that a massive deal in comparison to the original price direct from forge world http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Imperial_Guard/Astra_Militarum_Super_Heavy_Tanks/SHADOWSWORD_ARKURIAN_PATTERN.html
the only problem is that is already painted so you will have to strip the paint off so you can paint it in your own regiments colours

Nope, that's a pretty good price. The plastic ones are $140 and that one actually looks like the Forge World version with the bipod brace missing.

I wouldn't be able to leave it that way? my colors are almost similar, for my tanks I primed them with a dark angel green and a steel legion camo

Ah, well then in any case go ahead and leave it in those colours. I was more suggesting stripping the paint as most people have unique colour schemes for their regiment

Looks like a good deal to me and nicely painted. Looks like an airbrush job with some tan drybrushing. As noted, it looks from the picture like a barrel support is broken off, so you'll want to touch up the bare spots where it was attached, but that's not really a big deal.

I wouldn't worry about repainting it, especially for a superheavy. In IG fluff, superheavies are often brought in from different regiments or companies anyway, so even if the paintscheme was drastically different I wouldn't worry about it. It doesn't have any unit markings on it now, so it might be worth adding some markings or emblems that tie it to your army if you want to.

Besides, if you're just getting back in, you'll have plenty of other stuff to paint...

Would it be smart to buy the barrel support?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
is there any conversions to the tank I could make as well, of is that the standard build for it?

Not sure about conversion potential now that it's glued, painted etc, but I don't think there's anything to be gained or lost in purchasing the barrel support. It's just a matter of whether you like the look with or without.

The plastic kit doesn't have the support, lol.

My mistake. I'll edit my post.

Is this a plastic or resin model?

From the design, its a resin Forge World model with a bit missing. Could be a conversion though.

Having owned a plastic Shadowsword super heavy (& Assembling it too I'll add) I do believe this is the plastic kit, which doesn't have the barrel support on it.

Can't say for 100% certain without more angles, but I'm 90% sure that's the plastic version. It's a damn good price for a Super Heavy tank, especially considering it looks to be assembled well & has a decent, if basic paint job on it.

Just my thoughts on that. Take it easy.

Ah, so you're the person who ended up buying it. I was watching it and forgot to place a bid, so you ended up paying less than you might have.

As for whether it's a good deal, it certainly is at that price. Even the plastic kit costs a lot more than that and the one you got normally sells for at least $100-150. It's not very good rules-wise but hey, at least you have a nice model for a really cheap price. If nothing else you can just put it right back on ebay and make some easy profit.

You could leave it like that, if you're content with the paint that's already on it. IMO it's not a very good paint job and I'd want to strip it and re-paint, but if you're happy with it then it certainly meets the minimum for being tabletop standard.

No, it's very clearly the FW kit. It has the large fuel drums, different exhaust pipes, a different gun, a different front section with no hull HBs, etc.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

You're correct Peregrin, I only saw the profile/side view image in the thumbnail on the auction page, upon closer inspection & seeing the rear of the tank, it is indeed the FW version.

C'est la vie. I miss my Shadowsword, but I replaced it with a Knight Gallant that'll be alligned with an Adeptus Mechanicus house. This will tie in nicely with my Vostroyan I.G. I think, being heavily tied to the AdMech as the fluff makes them out to be.

Good catch, and thanks for the correction.

Take it easy.
