Hi all, just through I'd share this here in case anyone else is like me and wants a squad of four Grav-cannon devastators but doesn't want to buy two boxes of the things.

I'd got hold of a Heavy Grav cannon (from the Cult mechanicus servitor kit) with the intention of converting up one of the new spacemarine command landraiders (they have a grav turret). I've since brought a couple more on ebay as they sell for a lot less than the actual grav cannon parts.
Looking at the size of the bit I decided it would fit quite nicely into the chassis of the devastator plasma cannon. I cut away most of the main body of the plasma weapon but left the areas where the marine was holding the back and base of the weapon. A little alteration of the back of the heavy grav cannon and it slotted nicely in place.

The only other mod to do is to trim back the second power cable that connected to the front of the plasma cannon but that was very easily done, the backpack half doesn't look particularly plasma-y so is fine to use after again clipping back one of the power cables.

I know that it doesn't look like the official Grav-cannon especially as it is missing the amp but it is clearly a grav weapon and the knobbly bit at the bottom could easily be the amp. In my head cannon it'll be the Mars Beta pattern Grav cannon.

Please let me know what you think, would you be happy to play against it?

very happy to play against that, you clearly took the time and effort to make a decent conversion. Yeh its not the grav cannon from the kit, but its still a grav cannon regardless. I think it looks really nice

post pics once on the model!

Yup, looks fine - and all GW bits, so I can't see any grounds for complaints from opponents, tourney organisers or even GW.

Looks good. I can't see any reasonable person having an issue with it.

That looks great! I was thinking of using the grav out of that box to put on a tank (to make a kitbash command tank).

Out of curiosity, what did you outfit the Admech guy with?

Yes, I'd originally gotten the heavy grav part for a command tank conversion (they fit nicely into the razorback lascannon mount) but used it hear. Ice since picked up another couple to do the tank and second Devastator. I just brought the bits from eBay so didn't have to choose a different option for the servitors.
