Hey everyone, I wanted to spruce up my Raven Wing command squad by throwing a few thunderwolves into it. Not wanting to put some actual space wolves with my dark angels I set out to make my own chapter to serve as a dark angels successor that I could give some thunderwolves.

Spending some time with the painting tool, I came up with this colour scheme which I thought looked pretty good. So i set out to buld myself some dark angels on wolves. Which very quickly became dark angels on Lions. I ordered a techmarine to finish up my iron priests, but while I'm waiting for him to arrive, I started building my Wolf guard battle leader. But my chapter still needed some heraldry and a name, and then it hit me. Counts-as thunder wolves. Lions. Clearly there is a thundercats pun to be had here!

So, Here we go, He's still in WIP but as I'm about to head of to bed I figure I'd post him up anyway; The First Captain of the Thunder Cats:

As always, I'm not the greatest painter, but let me know what you all think!

Woke up early this morning, and powered on through to finish him up.

That looks great! You didn't say where you got the lion from though!

Was it a clever plan to make me respond to your thread?

looks great!

only thing I'd say is that the stone under the lions back paw seems to stick out a lot compared to the rest of the base - maybe stick another couple of stones on the base and paint them in the same colour as that stone...?

The yellow on the lion is a little bright for me... I would be inclined to tone it down either with some bone added to the mix, or another wash of brown.

Otherwise, looks the business .

Not bad, but I'm more curious about where you got the template for the colours?. I was trying to find one for chaos, but I couldn't really find any that was worthwhile.

uhh, so the Colour template can be found here

As for the yellow on the lions, It and the mane are just cassandora yellow/fuegan orange over a white basecoat, It works well for me and I'm not the greatest painter. I did drybrush with screaming skull lightly to make it a bit lighter, but since it still seemed to garish to some of you I went over it with another drybrush layer since then. I'll take some more pictures later as its already dark here XD.

I also have 2 iron priests that are coming up so i can fill the champions of fenris detachment up with thunder wolf characters as allies.

As for the stone under the lions paw. I painted it up as what is supposed to be gemstones that are scattered across the battlefield, I have them on only some of the bases since I didn't want to go to crazy with precious rocks.

Hey guys, It's been a while, but since I'm taking these guys to the upcomming dutch battle of the clubs I have been working on some more Thunder Cats, Infact I made myself a new Wolflord on thunderwolf with a powerfist, stormshield and the wulfen stone. So you can probably guess where this is going right?

Thunder, Thunder Thundercats! HOOOOO!
