I am a firm believer in killing your enemy by dice rolls. Even low powered weapons are lethal when forced to make a lot of saves. Ask Terminators about rolling ones. So using the Imperial Fist Chapter Tactics, for re roll 1s Bolter Drill and Tank Hunter and utilising the Gladius/Battle Company "free" transport formation, giving me up to twelve Big Gun Razorbacks, for 20 points each, my 1850 list is as follows.

Battle Demi Company A and B
Captain (naked) - 90
Chaplain (naked) - 90

Tactical Squad A1 (Assault Cannon, SB Razor) - Heavy Bolter - 105
Tactical Squad A2 (Assault Cannon, SB Razor) - Heavy Bolter - 105
Tactical Squad A3 (Las/Plas, SB Razor) - Heavy Bolter - 105
Tactical Squad B1 (Assault Cannon, SB Razor) - Heavy Bolter - 105
Tactical Squad B2 (Assault Cannon, SB Razor) - Heavy Bolter - 105
Tactical Squad B3 (Las/Plas, SB Razor) - Heavy Bolter - 105

Assault Squad A (Las/Plas, SB Razor) - no jump packs, 2 x Flamers, MB - 110
Assault Squad B (Las/Plas Razor) - no jump packs, 2 x Flamers, MB - 110

Devastator Squad A (Las/Plas, SB Razor [Tank Hunter]) 4 x Las Cannons [Tank Hunter] - 150
Devastator Squad B (Las/Plas, SB Razor [Tank Hunter]) 4 x Las Cannons [Tank Hunter] - 150

Subtotal 1418
--------------------

Auxilliary - Stormwing - 430
Raven, TL-AC, MM
2 x Talons, TL-AC, Skyhammers

Subtotal 430

--------------------

TOTAL = 1848

If not needing lots of AA, I'd swap out Stormwing for the 3 x Whirlwind formation (maybe swap a couple of Las/Plas for TL/LC just for the slightly better AA). Could then put the HQs on Bikes in an all Bike Grav Command Squad with Apothecary. Another scary, hard hitting, versatile Unit, with a bit of survivability and mobility for the Warlord.

Obviously this is tailored to my META, but I quite like cheap massed Snipers with all the MCs, though with an increase in points from 1850 to 2000 I would exchange for Sternguard, with their IF Bolter Drill now affecting Special Issue Ammo.

I also would now consider Whirlwind Suppression and the 3 Vindicator formations, but this is my list for my next game, with the 10 free Razorbacks. I realise they are only light tanks, but in this line up I have a lot of punch:

Anti Tank/MC/Air (lots of re rolls)
4 Razors with 4 Lascannons and 4 TL Plasmaguns
6 Razors with TL Assault Cannons
3 Aircraft with TL Assault Cannons, and lots of long range missiles.
8 Lascannon Marines
(Swap out more Lascannons/Assault Cannons if needing more Heavier Weapons).

Anti Infantry
6 Heavy Bolters (re rolls)
4 Flamers
15 Snipers
67 Marines
(9 TL Assault Cannons)

With a few more points/change around, I would put the HQs in a Grav Command/Bike Squad.

That's quite terrifying, looking at that again.

67 pairs of boots, lots of Heavy, Lots of Anti Infantry, serious Anti Air and LOTS of Objective Secured bring a VERY fluid, hard to kill force, with a lot of re rollable and boosted firepower to the table, that will be very difficult to displace, especially in Objective games.

As an aside Scouts didn't get more expensive they stayed the same.

So you've massed bodies. Strong AT/AMC. Good horde control with all those bolters. A decent amount of Ap2 if necessary though LCs, Plasma and rending. More than enough bodies to soak up firepower. Plus 11 vehicles.

So a solid start for sure. I don't like the command squad. It is actually a tonne of points with the characters (and what is the point in the standard) and I don't see it being good at anything.

Otherwise looks good but a complete lack of AA hurts. Sure you have 8 twinlinked AssCanns but the other firepower is needing 6s and will just soak up too many points. Particularly if the DA flyers are as strong as rumours suggest. Or Eldar players cotton on to how amazing their flyers are now.

Perhaps cut some chaff from the command squad and upgrade a Scout Aux to an AA Defence Force.

Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.

Yes my Colour is Black but not for the reasons stated mainly just because it's slimming... http://imperiusdominatus.blogspot.com

Yeah, the fluffer inside me wanted a Command Squad which when not kitted out, is not really expensive and gives FNP to your HQs and another free Razorback. But if you needed more AA then this is the first to go.

But don't forget, Imperial Fist re rolls, Chapter Tactic re rolls, all the twin linked Assault Cannons and TL Plasmas, 12 Heavy Bolters with rerolls and 13 Lascannons, not forgetting Tank Hunter, makes for a quite a lot of secondary anti air, that should be pretty effective, don't you think?

I mentioned Stormwing, which would be high up on my list for its versatility too.

I would also recommend switch the Las/Plas to TL Las.

It will do more work and be more reliable.

Third the AA suggestion. Whether you take planes or Ground AA is up to you.

FASTA, DAKKA, WAAAGH, KRUMP, ORKS WIN AGAIN!!!

With all the rerolls Las/Plas works out a bit better than TL/LC, but I've now dropped the Command and thinned out a touch and now included 3 flyers with the Storming Formation. Another 3 TL/ACs and long range Missiles.

Could be tempted to put a TL Plasma Cannon on the Raven for a bit more versatility, though with all the ground fire, it could be overkill...
