I really want to start a Tau force. I purchased a box of crisis suits and have them assembled and nearly finished painting. I was going to put in an order for 4-5 more units today to flesh out a decent 1000 - 1500 pt force. I got kind of lucky and stumbled upon a rumor that the Tau have new models and new codex coming out soon(ish?)

So I need some advice. Should I just shelve the Tau completely for right now, or do you think it's safe to buy a Riptide or Sky Ray and work on that until the new stuff comes out?

Barring some really shaky rumours about what might be coming with a new Tau codex, it's tough to say for sure what to do here.

IMHO, I would definitely wait before filling out the army. If they're going to change anything, it's battlesuits. That said, going by the releases so far this year, Skyrays and Riptides will *probably* still be something you'll get to play, and have only minor changes, and I can't see them updating those models either.
