Okay I am really confused, I have been playing 40k for a while but cannot get my head around this.

If you take a formation as your army, for example the sm formation with three land raiders, does that count as battle forged?

Or does it count as an unbound formation because it doesn't have a hq and 2 troops.

Another question is it even possible to take just a formation in a game of 40k. If I showed up with a librarian conclave from the sm codex, is that perfectly legal?

Can anyone clarify this for me?

Ah okay so a formation is a foc all on its own?

And what does cad mean?

Just understood what it meant haha!

So in 40k you can either follow the force org table, take a formation, take a detachment or just be unbound?

Okay thanks for your help that has corrected my confusions

Just one more thing about derucon detachments, would the space marine Gladius strike force be classed as one?
