So a question came up in a combat patrol the other night. I had my eldar against some chaos scum Thousand Suns. Since I am just getting back into the game I do not know all the rules and different characters. So I did not know his unit would be so powerful or i would not have moved at them with my spiders. However His
lvl 3 sorcerer targets my warp spiders with a witchfire spell during the psychic phase. Now I asked him "witchfires are shooting attacks correct?", He said Yes, so I said "I am going to flickerjump my spiders out of range(hopefully)". He told me that I could not do that as I can only do that against actual shooting attacks. I disagreed but went with what he said. Now that I have had time to look it up I believe I was right that I can flickerjump when targeted by a whitchfire, and here is why,
"Witchfire powers are shooting attacks. Indeed they are often refereed to as psychic shooting attacks, and have many profiles. Just like when shooting a weapon, you much see the target and cannot be locked in combat."
"Flickerjump- When the unit with this special rule is chosen as a target of a shooting attack, it can immediately make a warp jump moving
2d6".
So based on the witchfire rule that says it is a shooting attack in the first line, and the flickerjump rule that says when they are chosen as a target of a shooting attack they may warp jump, I believe I can flickerjump when targeted with a witchfire.

Please discuss or anyone with more information let me know if I am completely wrong in this.
