Hello guys,

recently I started to play again W40k and now I'm just building a renegade army made with my old and unused miniatures. I'm just planning future shops to finish it but for this I need many opinions about one of the lists I've been desinging lately. Here is the list:

HQ
Heretek archdemagogue with plasma pistol, meltagun, caparace armour: 120p
Chimera with m.training, autocannon and heavy bolter: 70p

Renegade enforcers cadre:
One with plasma pistol, caparace armor, melta bomb: 45p
One with plasma pistol, caparace armor, melta bomb: 45p

TROOPS
Renegade infantery platoon:
20 men renegade command squad with demagogue, 2 grenade launchers, chaos sigil, vox caster, krak grenades: 95p
15 men renegade infantery squad with 2 grenade launcher, chaos sigil, krak grenades: 70p
15 men renegade infantery squad with 2 flamers, chaos sigil, krak grenades: 70p

10 men renegade infantery veterans squad with 2 plasma guns, caparace armour: 135p
Chimera with m.training, autocannon and heavy bolter: 70p

10 men renegade infantery veterans squad with 2 plasma guns, caparace armour: 135p

FAST ATTACK
Valkyrie with rocket pods: 125p

HEAVY SUPPORT
Renegade heavy ordnance battery with 2 earthshaken cannons: 110p

FORTRESS
Aegis defense line with icarus laser: 85p

ALLIED DETACHMENT
HQ
Warpsmith with combi-melta: 120p

TROOPS
10 CSM with boltguns; aspiring champion with combi-melta, 2 melta guns: 170p
Rhino: 35p

I was planning to put a enforce cadre on each veteran squads for the L improvement and some extra firepowe and pput one of those squads on the valkyrier. Also I plan to put the batteries behind the aegis and attach the warpsmith to them in order to improve their L and use the icarus laser aswell.

I'm not sure the list will be as funcional as I think and probably I should use more regular and cheap infantery than the veterans squad. I have also doubts about the use of the CSM due I'm IW I can't say that's wrong. But maybe I could exchange them with a defiler and a blood slaughterer due the warlord is a heretek.

I'm expecting your opinions

I like but you should take the flat upgrade cost of feel no pain on your larger squads (granted by heretek)

I think the reason you are not getting more responses is that a) not that many people understand Renegade and Heretic lists and b) there's a lot here to think about.

The Warpsmith stood out to me as a strange option. I was not sure why he's there, except maybe to repair vehicles. I remember a tournament winner who had a warpsmith as his HQ and had him spend games fixing forgefiends.

Of course, he also has BS5 and can rock an icarus laser. Could you comment on what his role is?

The army itself seems too troop heavy to me. With renegades, I am looking for ordnance and armor, and I don't see that much of either. Unless there is some very, very good reason to keep them, I would consider dropping the CSM detachment altogether and stocking up on Rapiers instead. They are just good at dismantling things in ways infantry can't.

List looks good, just lots of decent units for 1500. I worry about the lack of any hard hitters. Knights might just steamroll.

Decent all rounder but little chance against a high end list.

You've got a fair amount of firepower from those ordnance batteries, so okay there, and the chimeras should work as nice light 'bunkers'.

One comment - if you want to advance with the chimeras (to get shots with the special weapons inside), then you're not going to be getting to use both guns at full BS. I might therefore keep the autocannon but swap the heavy bolter out for a heavy flamer. A pair of heavy flamers in close proximity can do a scary amount of damage - they probably only have to fire into a close-packed infantry squad once to do more damage than snap-firing a heavy bolter every turn of the game.

If you plan on using them as static pillboxes, then yes, keep the heavy bolters.

I'd agree that you're not really benefitting from your Heretek demagogue. Yes, he's T4 and has powered armour, but if he starts taking hits personally, you're probably still in trouble, and you're not taking any options which the Heretek devotion gives you.

The Enforcers are a good call, Adding a plasma pistol shot and some leadership is a good idea for veterans.

The platoon is fair enough. You get a command-vox upgrade for free, so between that and Fanatic, you should get a decent leadership for the command section (hopefully).

The Chaos marines.....Hmm.
A ten man unit with three meltagun shots is nice, but I'd consider taking chainswords, not bolters. If you're going tank hunting, then the squad's general armament doesn't really matter since they're not going to be hurting a tank with bolter fire. However, getting the most out of a meltagun means reaching 6" range of the target, which means you can expect to get assaulted if your opponent is so inclined - in which case the chainswords will do you far more good against most opponents.

Well my first plan was to a couple of defilers in the army to add more artillery and some S10 melee hits and that's why I planned to use the heretek but then I just though about using regular CSM troops as a support.

I didn't pay for the FNP from the archdemagogue due it's just 6+ so I don't think I will be able to use it so often, but it's something I can still consider.

Maybe it's better I go back to the defilers?

The 6+ feel no pain really works best on large infantry squads or large mutant rabbles... a horde getting a 6+ is a big deal when only strength 6 or above can ignore it. Especially when its such a cheap flat cost per squad.

Considering they are R3 no salvation miniatures, is worthto spend points on give them 6+ FNP? I expect them to die really fast
