Hello guys, I've pretty much always painted 40k stuff and sell it when I'm done, and I've never really done that with Fantasy stuff. However, the range has great models and I'd like to try some stuff out. However, I know nothing
about the game and what is considered the more 'popular' models at the current time, so I was hoping to get some guidance. 40k has its Jet Bikes, Hive Tyrants, Wraithknights, Centurions, Riptides, iconic models that you
find as a popular choice in most any solid list (and especially tournaments).

So what are the current popular and competitive models out there for Fantasy?

High Elf Spearmen and Bowmen are Iconic I'd say, as would the Empire State Troopers, Skaven Clanrats, Dwarf Warriors, Ork Boyz and Night Goblins, stuff like that tend to scream "Warhammer Fantasy" At least to most people I know

Shadowrun is the best game ever. It's the only thing I have ever played in which I have jumped out of a shot out van with a chainsaw to cut a flying drone in half before leveling a building with ANFO assisted by a troll, a dwarf, an elf, and a wizard.

Wait until 9th ed comes out and do the complete boxed set, or the two factions and sell separately. That's where the highest immediate demand will be, and many people will want them as they are new and don't belong to existing factions as we know them.

Yeah, right now is not the best time to be starting such an endeavour, as the most popular models now may not be so in a month's time. Wait until 9th has hit and the dust has settled, and then ask again

Iconic minatures:

Night Goblin Fanatics
Dwarf Slayers
Empire Steam Tank
Nagash
Skaven Screaming Bell
High Elf Pheonix Guard
Dark Elf witches

I think this is the sort of thing you are after? Each one of those units is an iconic part of their faction, and all scream warhammer!

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

Ranging back to being the biggest baddie of 5th edition fantasy, paint up a Bloodthirster. It also crosses with 40k.
Witch elves and chaos Knights are also pretty iconic, as well as Pegasus Knights, Minotaurs and Hydras.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.
