Already have one person interested and I am happy to GM.

I will probably use Skype for chat and probably Roll20 for the maps etc. I will get some interactive Character sheets for you guys and damage etc will be calculated via spread sheets on my end (since it is all percentile based in a d100 system).

I have a set of rules that came with my copy of the original fallout games and they are a lot of fun. Ultimately how you play is up to you but if you have played all the fallout games the character creation is a huge compilation of them all.

Hoping to get 4-5 people (5 being the most) in on this.

If you are interested either drop me a PM or leave a post here. So far we have me (the GM) and 1 player interested.

Are you ready to explore the wasteland?

I can confirm that us New Zealanders do not mind this.

What time and day would it be? I would be very interested but due to the time zones it might not work.

Thats 10.30 at night for me. Living with other people means that chatting on skype that late at night probably isn't an option for me sadly.

Good luck with it though.

Thanks fella. Hope all goes well.

Mind if I ask what system you are using for the game and if you are going for a class system? or something similar? Be cool to hear more.

When I purchased fallout the originals they came with an official PnP rule set. If you have played fallout 1 or 2 then the ruleset is pretty much the computer game ported into RPG format.

http://fallout-rpg.narod.ru/PnP.html

There are the basics, I will have other things I add to it (damage calculators and interactive sheets etc) but as a base ruleset it is a lot of fun.

I had the original fallout games but they never came with that. Thank you for sharing.

I used to play around with the fallout rules back in the day. 9:30 inf new zealand is only 5:30 here (the day before) so that is doable. I never used skype though.

I will add that to the end of the mail out, I think everyone was ok with it but did not get the chance to ask the late person.

For anybody interested the character creation ended up with some great variety. Session 1 will be interesting indeed.

We have:

Nargle. A Half Mutant who has been around a long time. Ugly man. However his size and physique is more than the average person. He is able to kill with one mighty punch (seriously this guy does 10X melee damage after all his stats are done compared to most in the group). Unfortunately for him, he lacks a lot of brain function and is hardly able to speak. Having to literally resorting to grunts when he is attempting to communicate.

Darius. While more charismatic than Nargle he is still lacking in the social department. However he does well with his hands. Being both a repairmen and a medical man he is invaluable to any survival group. He carries with him a family heirloom, centuries old, a Desert Eagle and part of his personal journey is to fix this heirloom.

Selene. Small, fast and very perceptive Selene makes an excellent scout. She is also incredibly lucky as others have noticed. While she lacks in strength and isn't very tough she can pick a lock with incredible ease. Her eyesight is very good compared to many in the wasteland giving her a huge advantage at spotting things many people would miss.

Isaac. An incredibly intelligent scientist who loves explosions and lasers! His knowledge seems endless and his ability to apply that knowledge is what he prides himself in. Unfortunately after spending so much time indoors he is noticeably frail looking. But he clearly makes up for that in pure intellect.

Drust. Drust is a very average man and his only real stanout quality is being above average in his speed. Other than that he is just average on the surface. However his fast metabolism means he naturally heals a lot faster than his buddies. Being the most average character means he is the most relatable, so his ability to talk to people (which is sorely lacking in this group haha) is important indeed.

That is a quick description of the characters, but more info will come over the week as they flesh out their stories a lot more!

Had a rough start. Going to improve MANY things over this week for a smoother game next week.

Online is very different to sitting around a table haha.

I had weakened the weakest of enemies for the first mission. (all in all 4 robots and 3 geckos) and the combat took a long time.

I overestimated how badly they would roll (majority misses) and it got a dragged out a lot. Im gonna have to do some tweaking of the enemies because the experience you get per enemy is pretty low etc.

So a wee bit of work to do so that the combats are faster and more fulfilling. At the rate this combat goes we wont get very far haha.

Did the Obsidian guys ever come out with their own version of the game? I know that there's a forum for it, but those guys played the game for years and partly based New Vegas on their own campaigns. I'd imagine then that they would have built on the original system a bit then, but knowing those devs their games would have been tough as hell unless you were a veteran player. =P

There was also that licensed expansion that fell through too. Exodus I think it changed its name to. I don't know if that's still out there, but I'm assuming you could probably pick up a shareware copy of it if that game went under too. Heh, but you probably already have a handle of things as it is.

Playing the PnP version 2.

There is a link further up the thread. Unlike most games I played this one is percentile based, so you kind of need a calculator etc for it to work well. Especially later in the game where the damage gets bigger. I would say its easy, but requires a lot of bookkeeping.

I should probably see about running a game of this myself at some point, I mean I have all the models just sitting there. Slightly problematic in that I have a chronic backstabbing disorder (current game: running from zombies down an alley, a door opens and an NPC reaches out a hand to pull me in. I pull him out, throw him to the ground and let the zombies have him to cover my escape. ...My GM hates me) and I'd troll people too much to GM a session. Meh, guess that's what Skype calls are for ...though I don't have a mic. =P

I'm also carrying about a plastic bag filled with used condoms and sewer filth in that game too for ...reasons. Does this setting allow for carrying about loads and loads of loot, or are you limiting what players can pick up? Picking up anything and everything can get a tad out of hand as far as controlling the players go (I'm using that big of filth to store a unit of food in and not telling anyone, so if I happen to want to poison some sod later on...).
