I guess this is a bit OT since this is mostly a rant, but I'm so bored of the GW Ork Warboss models. I wish they did a proper NEW model. The 4 common models that one encounters these days are all pretty much the same pose, more or less.

I'd love a different GW model, or come up with a really good conversion idea.

I don't really like other manufacturer's warboss models, they don't fit very well with the aesthetic of the rest of the Orks.

I just customized some Nobz and stuck them on 40mm bases, I find it works out well

The 4th is Gruk Facerippa. The exclusive model from the Stormclaw box set.

You should be able to buy third one on GW site, forth can be bought off ebay or buy the stormclaw set.

The third one is from the old Assault on Black Reach box set. You can get him from Ebay for about 10 euros or sometimes even less. The 4th one is a lot more expensive on Ebay, 30 - 40 euros, which is ridiculous.

Yeah, if ever an HQ model needed a nice big kit full of options, it's the Ork Warboss. Pretty much a chance to print money, so unlikely GW will ever pull one out.

The 1st and 2nd ones look more like Nobz with some extra kit than warbosses. Both my warbosses are the 3rd type, but the 4th one looks best IMO.

Yeah the first two are far too small by current model size standards. I have one of the third ones as well, and would like to get 2 more warbosses, but I don't fancy the small ones, and the fourth one is too similar to the AOBR one without conversion.

If GW brought out a proper kit, I'd buy two straight away, and to be honest if it was even half-decent I'd say nearly every Ork player would get one. You can never have too many Warbosses. :-)

I agree a kustomizable plastic kit would be excellent.

But we play Orks! We don't rely on official models! Look at the hundreds of ork buggy and wartrakk konversions out there. The kit is outdated so everyone builds their own. I think the Warboss is another of the models you see most often konverted because he is a centerpiece and focal for the army.

The current kits don't knock yer socks off? Grab your bitz box and a knife and some glue! Waaagh!!

I think those pics are just poorly scaled. Not home right now of I'd check, but I'm pretty sure the two older bosses are at least as tall as the Black Reach boss, if not taller.

Their height differences aside, the main issue that I have is that they just keep re-hashing the same pose and basic essence, it's always just "shoota in the right hand, choppa/klaw/squig in the left hand, and two pistols at the back". In the case of the first three models, even the wind is blowing from the same direction. :-)

The first one was pretty cool, and huge, when 3rd edition first came out. GW's scale creep for the orky models leaves him closer to nob size now.
