My name's David, and I'm a long time wargamer returning to the hobby after a long term hiatus from the hobby!

The primary draw to this hobby has always been just that, the hobbying, while I am a pretty competitive person by nature, I have always loved painting, sculpting, and building models. This is what has ultimately brought me back again from almost three years away from 40k.

I started playing after being at summer camp when I was 12, and seeing a friends White Dwarf featuring some sweeeeeer Golden Demon entries (3rd edition wraithlords and such).

I started the hobby with Black Templars, graduated to Necrons, Demons, Orks, and now Chaos Marines. before I quit, I bought Battle for Blackreach and started a fluffy Word Bearers army to pair with my rather large Demons force. When I left, I sold most of my demons models (except my favorite conversions, 2nd/ 3rd edition metals) but kept my Word Bearers since the army was so small.
My brother moved home from college and apparently wanted to get back in. He picked up my army and some other stuff from friends and gamed away. (no modeling though).

Fast forward two years, and I have a small demons force and what turns out to be about 2500 pts of Word Bearers.

Ive pulled them from the dregs of the closet and set about converting and painting again. My interest still is primarily hobbying, but Ive discovered a new LGS where I may try and game every once in a blue moon.

Glad to to be back!
Be on the lookout for a hobby log if I can ever find a decent camera.

Hey, I'm from Orlando! I just got into 40k, and I'd love to get to gaming eventually. How are you finding coming back?

I've noticed kits are a lot more expensive now than they were when I started playing ($25 for 10 marines or a rhino, or 8.99 for a metal Marshall)
I understand that the level of detail has really gone up, but $70 plus for a raider is crazy.
I'll be buying most of my stuff second hand if I can.

I have a lot of stuff currently so that should help satisfy my modeling bug for quite some time!

What army are you fielding, bro? I'm looking to start but I've kept my eyes free from prices, I don't want to be crushed that early on lol.

Im playing a hybrid list of Deamons and Word Bearer Chaos Space Marines.
To avoid crazy high prices, I'd recommend heading to your local game store and hanging around some veteran gamers.
Find out what army you like and see if anyone has some of that they might be willing to let go!

Willing to let go? I thought people would be too attached to the models to do that... either way, good luck getting back! I unfortunately won't be joining the Chaos forces- I'll be going for Space Wolves, Ultramarines, or Orks.

I'm the same way right now just due to the fact that I can't find anyone in Bentonville Arkansas who plays 40K. Run into a couple at the local but mostly guys who play card games at this local store.

So modeling is what I do, but it's kind of mindless, like I'll build a kit for my army apt hat has nothing to do with formations in these current rules. So I'm banging out kits for an army that's probably not set up right... Oh well, it makes me happy. Now just for a Geek Chic table for the house...
