What armies they bring back, update, etc.

For example if Bretonians are gone (my primary army) I doubt I'd come back, especially as my secondary is Tomb Kings and that's also on the fence.

Will you wait until you can window shop, or will you pre-order?

My WHFB armies were Bretonians and Tomb Kings.

As they are putting everything up for free download this weekend I will be making my decision then.

You'll find me in the splitting the boxed set thread if I like what I see.

How these War Scrolls function will be the make or break for most everyone I think.

This. I think the war scrolls are going to be the key to the whole project - and at this point it could go either way....

Personally I won't be pre-ordering or buying the set. I don't really like either of the factions that much. But I will pick up white dwarf for the free model, and to get a proper look at the rules.

It all hinges on these war scrolls.......

There is not this idea.

I generally don't pre order or buy anything, even things I love. And this... is not looking like one of those. Neither of the factions even remotely appeal to me, and I think the models themselves are kind of ugly.

gonna wait and see.

I'll be happy to continue using my quite large chaos army.

Or I'll be happy to get a nice display case and put them on display.

My friend has Dwarves and I have a 40k Daemon army.

So if the War Scrolls are released digitally this Saturday we may try and sneak in a Sunday lunch time game.

And as the rules are in WD this Saturday I guess I'll have the full game then.

I'll be buying the box set as soon as I have the cash; the minis are beautiful. I'll also get the WD, as £2.50 for what amounts to a whole (if light) ruleset and a free mini is hard to complain about.

The game itself I shall at least try; simplified, quick rules may or may not provide the depth of gameplay that something like LotR, KoW or Dragon Rampant would, but I can see it being rather neat for quick games; it'll be a good tool to introduce wargaming to new folks, it or get games in of a lunchtime or run several in a session. I think there's certainly potential there, we just need some of the warscrolls to leak to see just how much flavour they add in.

Waiting to find out the the direction of the game and its changes. I've been booing GW for awhile on the warhammer stuff but i'll at least look at the rules first. I have a friend who is buying right away, even though i feel its a bad idea, that will let me look at it. He knows i'll buy my own book if it has what i want in it.

Everyone says it will have rules for classic warhammer, but until I know 100% that it does, I will not spend a cent on it.

If I wanted to buy it I couldn't due to the fact our LGS has already stated they are not ordering any of the new AoS stuff. I'll get the free rules and try it but after playing a multitude of other systems from simple to complex I don't have a good feeling about this one.

I've got some Warscrolls that I stained in the bathroom this morning to make them look authentic. Heck, they even smell like old parchment! Might wanna wear gloves when you handle them.

I'll read the rules, and consider carefully the fate of my Skaven. The rumors make me a bit uneasy. If I take a character with a Dragon mount and face a player with five Empire Spearmen, are they really going to get so many advantages that my character on his dragon will not only have a hard time winning the game, but could lose? Really? If that's the case, then I'm just going to run 10 Skaven Slaves all the time and laugh.

It makes me very curious how the game will be played/set up with no points values, no force organization, and somehow the players will be able to look at units and determine the relative "strength" of the unit and be able to assign advantages to the weaker unit before the game starts?

I already made my choice. Any company that can't at least honor those of us who have put their kids through college (and likely Oxford) by letting us know that our minis won't be legacy pieces is not worth my time. I focus on my WH40K Daemonkin list though, as this game is making them profit they will not likely end it or reboot it (theoretically). I won't buy the new stuff because quite simply I don't want to have a battle with my wife over why I have to spend money on it. Though I might grab some of the chaos pieces through eBay for conversion fun, so I guess it will serve a purpose for my table...

Going to be sticking with 8th edition or earlier. My group has showed zero interest in AoS plus we all like the look of the models in ranks. Was really hoping for a new Skaven army book but I guess that's never going to happen now. Need to remember to print out the 8th edition faq before they go bye bye.

I did a quick reading on BOLS about the rules of Ages of Sigmar and is not the game I want to play. I will wait ....

I haven't heard that anywhere except in your post.

The logic of End Times followed by Age Of Sigmar is that classical Warhammer Fantasy finished with 8th edition. The new game has very different rules. I don't see any reason why you can't use old WHFB armies in AOS providing GW put out suitable scrolls for them.

Bac on topic, I will download the free rules and scrolls and see what I think of the game. I shan't buy the boxed set as I don't like the figures or fluff and the rest of the contents are available free.

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

The rules aren't actually that bad, with all the leaks on the scrolls and 4-page rules I think the only thing that completely destroys it is the no limit on warscrolls/points, the sudden death mechanic which is how GW hopes to balance Big vs Small armies will probably fail, the winning conditions are kinda easy to exploit, and at the same time if you go lets say 4 or 5 times the size of your opponents army there is no way they'll get the victory due to sudden death

One of our FLGS is running a demo this Saturday. He told us to bring some of our models, he will download the approrpiate warscrolls for us and we can try it out. While I"m going to give it a go, I'm not horribly excited about it, so will be bringing my warmachine stuff along just in case...

I probably will split the box with someone though, as I pretty much have to have those new Chaos models.

Yes. My feeling is that there is no fundamental structural reason why a game consisting of a simple framework and a lot of individual unit factors (i.e. the core rules and the scrolls) cannot be made to work. It works for MTG, after all. I just am somewhat dubious that GW will bother to put in the work needed to get it to work for AOS.

The fact that keen players are already pointing out potential problems with the new rules is worrying.

I'm going to be up at 11:59 pm Friday and download the warscrolls and rules for everything at 12:00am Saturday.

Not going to be buying the AoS set just yet...undecided about it. Still love 8th edition and always will. Might play AoS for quick different games but from what I can tell it isn't going to be nearly as tactical as 8th.

No reason I can't play both tho!

I am a bit torn on it. I like some of what they are doing but not as a whole. I actually quite like some of the new models and the core rules. I am just not sure how I feel about the Warscrolls themselves.

I love the idea of the war scroll. Just not the actual rules on them. I think I kind of miss the actual to hit and to wound charts vs the flat roll you have to make. But on the other hand I see how it will speed things up. Just of tow minds on all of it.
