Manhattan

Inner Paris has a total of 5 GW stores from near the Bastille to by the Notre Dame whereas Central London only really has one on Kensington High Street near Kensington Gardens/Hyde Park and the one in Covent Garden. Manhattan only has the one on 9th street by Astor Place in Greenwich Village for a city of 8 MILLION PEOPLE (Paris is only 2.3 million).

What is going on here?

Surely there is more desposible income in the UK and US than in France. Also in the UK GW is so ubiquitous that it is somewhat accepted as semi-mainstream in France if you're above age 14 and play with minis you're looked at as a child and stigmatised.

Between

The French economy is larger than the UK's by a large mountain.

Also, in London, average rents vary between £900 and £2000 per month. Paris rent... somewhat lower, thus more disposable income.

Also, 'inner Paris' is a widely variable term.

Where is there one in Kensington High Street? There is one in Chiswick, not far away. Do you mean that one?

There is one on Tottenham Court Road, and another in Covent Garden as you said.

There is one in Putney.

There was a one man store in Angel - has that closed?

There are quite a few further out from the centre.

Maybe it is because Central London is less family-residential? Not even sure if it is true, but there seem to be a lot more in the suburbs where you'll find families.

Manhattan

Inner Paris is anywhere in the arrondissments inside the Boulevard Peripherique.

Chiswick IS NOT central london. By central I mean zone 1. Even the one on Kensington High Street is barely central London (Shop 7 Lancer Square, Kensington Church Street London W8 4EH)

It was down the road from my uni so I went there all the time. (I went to Imperial)

Looks like there is one in Fitzrovia so there is a total of 2 in central London whereas Paris has EIGHT O_o.

Are there any French dakkaites on these forums? Is 40k that popular in France when New York City can't even get more than 1 tiny 1 man store?
