As stated, this has probably been asked, but my computer is presently undergoing updates, and my phone is doing whatever the heck it wants (such as not registering a search on these forums). So, I hope you won't flay me, but I have a question.

I'm just starting up a CSM/Khorne Daemonkin collection. I'm slowly getting toward the priming stage (if this rain would ever let up, but I digress). I've been thinking of picking up a Khorne Red spray can, and was curious about two things:

1) Is it worth it, or should I just handpaint over black primer?

And

2) If it is worth it, does it actually work as a primer, or is it for a coat over the primer?

I haven't used the spray colors yet (only spray primers), and am looking for feedback on it.

Thanks!

I've never tried the red primer...but I do really enjoy gw canned primers....and from what I could find out the red can of spray paint is a primer

Unless is specifically says it is a primer, it isn't.

If you are doing a lot of one colour, using a spray (or airbrush) is utterly amazing, and I would thoroughly recommend it. Your cost of entry with rattle cans is pretty low too.

I'd probably prime with black, then spray it with khorne red and do a poor mans zenithal highlight (spray from all angles but from underneath, causing natural shadow). Once you start like that though, you will probably need to continue to keep cohesion.

It isn't a primer, you will need to spray it over black or white for best results. And it doesn't match the pot, so if you slip whilst painting details, it will be a pain.

+1 on using it. I used GW sprays straight on the plastic without priming without issue. It's not cheap but saves a lot of time.
