The white dwarf codex was actually just an update to the 3rd edition codex. The 3rd edition codex wasnt anywhere close to being competitive and they updated the rules through white dwarf. It was very minor stuff though, points adjustments a couple rules changes. The 'revised' 3rd edition codex was those changes officially printed into the codex. I never bought the revised codex, instead I cut out the page from the white dwarf and put it in my codex
