Age of Sigmar shares very little with Warhammer Fantasy and it will soon become difficult to follow the discussion in this forum if it continues to include two different games.

Will the Warhammer Fantasy discussion be moved into the specialist forum, as has been done in the past with Battlefleet Gothic and other discontinued games?

Probably a bit early to make that call.

It's weird, since it's not even a Specialist game - It's completely unsupported, and will of course never be a proper Specialist game... But on the other hand, where else should it go?

Age of Sigmar could get its own Forum, below Fantasy, too. I mean, the fans of the old Fantasy will still be here, so nothing has changed there. There's just a new game in business.

I don't know what criteria is used when deciding which games get their own forums, which get entire sections of forums, and which are rolled into forums shared by other games.

We need to see how people want to support both systems. It might be that there is strong continuing interest in WHFB.

If the now deceased Warhammer fantasy still holds interest but doesn't get as much activity, it could be relegated to a smaller portion..with just a general discussion and army building section. I do think it might be messy to have both age of sigmar and old WHF in the same forum sections and army list areas...but right now its too soon to tell.

I'd say, considering how different the current edition of Fantasy is to Age of Sigmar, that they warrant separate forums. However, at least at the moment, there still seems to be a fair amount of interest in WHFB so I don't think it needs to be, or should be, moved to Specialist Games, unless not doing so would create some web design problem I can't forsee.

Would be really nice with a true Warhammer Fantasy Battles forum (possibly the old, this one for the old threads) and move all the AoS drivel over to a new subforum somewhere...

This is the reason for me creating this thread in advance; I was hoping to avoid this exact outcome.

WHFB has been abandoned by GW and will no longer be supported. It will likely fade pretty soon.

IMO, all the Warhammer Fantasy stuff should be moved into a subforum, Age of Sigmar should get the new top level forum stuff. WHFB is dead, we need to accept that. AoS is the new thing, and will be where all the support is. Doesnt make sense to keep a bunch of WHFB forums up for a dead system.

I feel you guys' pain, but as others have noted, this is what "Warhammer" (non-40k) is to GW now, and flows right out of the End Times.

We'll be keeping an eye on things, and people have helpfully labeled most of their threads for the new rules with "AoS", so if one or the other is split off later it should be easy to sort. But for now I guess we just need to see how things shake out!

Personally, I'll be continuing to play mass battle fantasy (or rather, getting back into doing so) but it will be with the Kings of War ruleset...

Having separate forums would certainly be a good way to track the popularity of both games and would allow for more WFB/KoW crossover for the old community.

Renaming the forum Age of Sigmar was a terrible idea. Playing along with GW's attempts to erase decades of history.

Not to mention it's still called Warhammer even on GW's own site.

You know, the subforum/forum section is also still called Warhammer on this site, so...

If GW can have a clean break, no reaason that Dakka can't. A separate AoS section would be good for both parties.

While the mods are amalgamating threads to the point that it appears to be Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, its often disingenuous, unevenly applied and purile. Sometimes its worse than that, this entire group of threads over a hundred pages of deep in this section has been relabelled AOS General Discussion & Background and AOS everything else for everything else.

We have had a page on AOS, over a hundred pages on Warhammer Fantasy. What gives is this all about AOS now? If it is why not open up AOS boards.
We don't yet know if this new game will actually got the distance, and while many of us here are willing to give it a shot we are also likely to want to play older editions.
What part of AOS does a 2000pt High Elf list fit into, or amalgamating Bretonnians into 8th knowing now there is no 9th.

I find the forum relabeling a little offputting. Even if I do get into Age of Sigmar, it will be with seperate armies and the Warhammer armies I have colected for decades will still find play. I doubt I am the only one.

You'd think the logical path would be to place the old forum as a sort of library under "unsupported games" section. at least. But then, talking to some of the mods on here, logic isn't something they use on a day to day basis.

That doesn't seem like a very Rule #1 sort of thing to say, actually...

Yeah, well, some mods don't follow that rule either, so it makes one less prone to do it.

To be more clear - if you see a post that you feel is against the rules of the site - report it.

Do not in turn break the rules yourself.

Warhammer Fantasy Battles is now on the same level as (or lower than) Lord of The Rings/ The Hobbit. The dedicated forum for it should go in the same area.

All of GWs specialist games are wholly unsupported. But fans keep them alive. I see no difference with WHFB.
Hence sub forum it under specialist games for those that do want to discuss/keep it alive. Simple.

I agree with this. It would be really nice to separate the hundreds of threads in this forum out from AoS. At least to save them for people who continue to play WHF to read without having to skip through all the new AOS threads.
