Has anyone used the land raider formation yet? I was thinking if they were loaded w TH/SS terminators and using Black Templars along with Helbrecht and a chaplain, they could almost certainly get into combat range since the land raiders are impossible to stop without destroying them. Then maybe with that standard for +1 attack. Not sure offhand how many points just those would be but I bet a coue crusader squads could fit too. What other good uses might there be for the Spearhead besides terminators? Honor guard? Would some other chapter (or codex units) be better to fill the land raiders with?

The formation is pretty good at 2500+ pts levels. Anything less than 2500 pts leaves you unable to engage enough targets to win.

I like it with assault centurions, SoB repentia, or IG demo vets. It makes a very scary smash that can take down essentially any super heavy or GMC in a single charge.

Iv actually tried a game with the formation with my BT. 5 marines, 5 noe's with a chaplain as hq. Ya sure the LRCs are impossible to stop but you have nothing really to back up the squads in under 2k.

fill 3 land raiders with Skitarii Rustalkers. there's even a "Killclade" formation with 3 Rustalker units and one Infiltrators unit.

I know it isn't quite what you are after, but get a Techmarine and some servitors in the Land Raiders. Fix whatever hull points get stripped and hope you don't get exploded. Kill stuff with the raiders. Profit.
