WE seem pretty great, really. They aren't going to be as flighty, since the game is substantially different and ranges are shorter, but it does appear that they are pleasantly shooty with some real close combat bite. I am actually excited to try them out, perhaps in a larger battle than a skirmish level - where I think the game will frankly excel.
@coolguys - 3 scrolls a side is an incredibly small game,
IMO - my gut reaction is that having maybe 5 or 6 scrolls, even if they are all smaller units, would be much better overall, as there would be more of a footprint on the table. If every model is a melee thing on both sides with only 3 scrolls per side, you end up in the situation that you did - a huge scrum in the middle. This happened in
WHFB 8th ed too, but the
raw size of units generally resulted in fewer actually engaged blocks.
Try a game with 5+ scrolls of different units, with different roles for each warscroll. I think it will make for a more interesting game. Also, try to place terrain in places where it will matter more. I think this game will benefit from terrain the same way
40k does - it will strongly affect strategy, movement,
LoS, and generally make the battle more exciting. As this isn't
WHFB, playing on Planet Golfball serves no purpose and will only make things more dull, I think. Treat it more like
40k, and it might be more fun for everyone involved.
