GW have updated their site and there are four "Grand Alliances": Chaos, Death, Destruction, and Order. All of these alliances have subfactions that are the old armies. REJOICE!

Yeah, I noticed that too, which is good at least. They also haven't incorporated their new, weird names either, which I feel is strange. Maybe they're waiting for the fluff to be accessible by people so they can read it first and then not be confused by the new names.

Still, I'm waiting for the rules to pop up. They do go up at midnight, right?

They've also posted the rules compendiums, by the way! A lot of the rules looks SUPER fun (Especially Tomb Kings. Tomb Kings seem to have really gotten some of the best rules from what I've seen)

http://www.games-workshop.com/resources/PDF/AoS_Compendiums/warhammer-aos-vampire-counts-en.pdf

replace "vampire-counts" with "the-empire", "dwarfs", "tomb-kings", "dark-elves", "high-elves", "wood-elves", "orcs-and-goblins", etc to get any book

haven't figured out if the rules themselves are up and haven't found a direct link to these (any unit's page just goes to Chaos daemons, it looks like)

I have to say I've been very on the fence so far about what Age of Siigmar means for the game, but from what I've read this morning I am feeling slightly more encouraged.

Warhammer is the right of all sentient nerds!

There is not this idea.

I am quite happy to see free rules for everyone was not just a rumour.

Still not really happy about most of the rest of AoS, but I'll wait and read what people's impressions of playing it are.

But it was dang uncanny to look at the store and see the new logo there. They're really going all in with this.

Not seeing Chaos Dwarfs listed, which is a shame. Hopefully forge world will publish appropriate rules since they're still selling the models.

Well, keep in mind the increased scale of the new kits- this will represent the new size for future WH-AOS releases. It's not as noticeable when comparing against the hulking Sigmarines, but the Chaos Mauraders stand notably taller than Space Marines. This size will represent the things to come, so old armies will look more and more out-of-place. This makes sense from what the rumors say, where the two ranges aren't really intended to be compatible (but can't just be outright abandoned, since that would cut sales and anger customers).

long time rumors have been that they'll still consolidate down to and support only a handful of core factions, most likely down the road.

I.e. sure in 1.5 years the Lizardmen will have their PDF Warscrolls, but chances are GW won't be making any new Seraphon models in that time.

And the new models that do come out will be much more OP'd than the old legacy models' Warscrolls. Instead of codex creep, it'll be model/warscroll creep to make old models obsolete.

I'd rather my army was removed, then it wouldn't have to suffer the indignity of this mess of spiteful rules apparently designed to mock WFB players.

"You mean to play AoS with your puny WFB models? Fine, but only if you embarass yourself in public by acting like a 6-year old on a sugar rush each game! Ha-ha! Now go and buy yourself a serious army, like our brand new Steamhead Duardins."

Dead in all but name GW clearly has no intention of letting people continue to use their old models. What kind of business would that make them but instead of putting down fantasy honorably they're going to put it on life support and drag it around mockingly until all the new replacement models come out and slowly phase fantasy totally out.

Don't know why anyone is happy about the way GW is treating its fantasy customers or product on the down swing.

Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage,
and the ends of the earth your possession. You shall break them with a rod of iron and dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel. Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son,
lest he be angry, and you perish in the way,
for his wrath is quickly kindled. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.

Bit confused as to how they seem to still give rules for all the characters that were killed during the End Times too - e.g. Teclis is still listed in the High Elves rules...

I think it said somewhere that you summon the spirits of mighty heroes of the previous world. Also remember the incarnates were all bound to winds of magic, which are still about.

Nice to see the Skaven are still pretty much what they used to be though...

Not sure why they released rules for characters that is deader than ned.

I'm glad they have all the dead characters in the books!
I hated the end times, and I'm ignoring whatever gak is going on with AOS.
my Warhammer world is frozen in time.

Thanks

So will you be sticking with 8th and below, or will you use the homebrew 9th books that are sure to come. After reading AOS I am not impressed. The simplicity is ing insane. I might run a few trial games but will probably stick with lower editions

I am hoping Forgeworld or Black Library or someone puts out Chaos Dwarves scrolls.

I know its the "not an army, army", but still. In the interim my group is fine with me running a mesh of dwarves and warriors of chaos, where appropriate changing "order" or "duardin" or whatever to "Chaos", etc.

Isn't quite the same though.
