G'day internets,
Seeing as the C:SM 7E gave AssCents a point drop, I thought I might field them with an FA Drop Pod. My question is though, can you assemble the Drop Pod without the harnesses? Or are they required?

Some say God created the world. I don't know about that, but I do know that everything else is made in China.

Totally optional. You can leave out the central pillar and the harnesses, and it will look and work fine. I did this on one of my pods, for dropping dreads. Not because I hated painting all the fiddly bits and lining everything up. For the dread. Honest.

Yeah mate, it works just fine.

3000pts Blood Angels (4th Company) - 2000pts Skitarii (Voss Prime) - 2500pts Imperial Knights (Unnamed House) - 1000pts Imperial Guard (Household Retainers)

2000pts Free Peoples (Edlynd Fusiliers) - 2000pts Kharadron Overlords (Barak Zilfin) - 500pts Ironweld Arsenal (Edlynd Ironwork Federation) - 1000pts Duardin (Grongrok Powderheads)

Wargaming's no fun when you have a plan!

Even the DWML or Storm Bolter attach to the engine (above) rather than to the harness (below), so yeah, totally optional. I've seen a lot of people paint their pods without the center harness piece.

By the way, a tip -- if you ARE going to include one, it's much easier to paint separately, and then glue together after.

So, paint the bottom piece and all the fins separately, the center harness, the engine, and then put it together.

That's easy - just glue the doors closed...

I painted three that were fully assembled (including the harnesses inside). It wasn't overly hard, I just used an airbrush to basecoat the entire thing boltgun metal on the inside and washed it with black.

Then I painted the storm bolter casing to match my army, and painted the centre console sphere. Overall it took less time than the outside.
