With all the to do regarding round and square bases, I was wondering if there was a way of the bases so that they could be easily swapped around (on an as needed basis).

Pinning the feet and having holes in each type of base.

Perhaps magnets?

It would be very time-consuming and quite difficult, but not impossible.

3000pts Blood Angels (4th Company) - 2000pts Skitarii (Voss Prime) - 2500pts Imperial Knights (Unnamed House) - 1000pts Imperial Guard (Household Retainers)

2000pts Free Peoples (Edlynd Fusiliers) - 2000pts Kharadron Overlords (Barak Zilfin) - 500pts Ironweld Arsenal (Edlynd Ironwork Federation) - 1000pts Duardin (Grongrok Powderheads)

Wargaming's no fun when you have a plan!

surely the new base rules negate the need for swappable bases?

If you used MDF lasercut circular bases that fitted into a square outer shape, perhaps? A little like how some companies offer movement trays and how Mantic used to make their troop bases?

I heard from the GW store that now you can use round bases for fantasy. Not sure when it's out but........

Magnetizing is the way to go. The 1/8 x 1/16 rare earth magnets work really well for this.
An added bonus of magnetizing your models to their bases, is ease of transport. I find that larger models, such as Terminators, fit better in your transport case, when you can pop their bases off.

The rules say that the bases don't matter. So you can have square, round, triangular, etc.

You can use round bases in Age of Sigmar.

If you're looking to still play Warhammer Fantasy with the same minis, leaving the round bases on only works if the square base they should have for WHFB is the same size. For minis that use 20mm squares, the shift to 25mm round changes the unit frontage.
