Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

They are not my style at all personally as I usually prefer more realistic looks.

But from a technical standpoint they need more normal poses. I think all of the guys I saw had very few poses (many holding a hammer in the air). If they are going for less variety they should have gone for more normal poses. That way it looks a lot nicer when they are all on the board.

They're not even actual "snapfits".

With that out of the way, I'm actually really liking them. While they certainly look static(like a lot of the Hobbit/LOTR range), a few cuts here and there will likely allow for some nice conversions. Add to it that the models really lend themselves to bright metallic colors for their plates/scalemail and bright colors for their cloth/shields and it's something different for me to paint.

As it stands, I'm in the process of cataloging my Vampire Counts stuff to get a Stormcast Eternal force going on. I'm actually excited for this stuff since it will be a chance for me to go all out with a "Paladin in shining armor" motif.

I think they're okay, certainly just Fantasy Space Marines, but with the whole universe changing they're not really big offenders.

They're static mainly because they're in the starter, but I'm guessing they'll come out with a more flexible kit in the future.

...well, probably. With AOS coming about as a way to cut Fantasy's costs, hopefully they won't be trying to reduce costs by making everything mono-pose. That will be determined when they come out with the first official box sets.

(And yes, I can see this happening. They cut out most of the options for units, so it would make sense to go mono-pose, even if that misses half the point of buying GW miniatures.)

Somebody at TMP did this:

Now that looks cool.

I think they look really good. I like the death mask motif and that some of them like the icon bearer are literally just a skeleton in armour.

There is not this idea.

Got to seem them in person the other day, and I'm not a fan. Just don't like the whole look of 'em.

"Static poses" is a good criticism. They looked very stiff to me. I mean, ok, they are stiff, they're made out of plastic, but you know what I mean. And the design seems empty and personality-less.

They just aren't for me.

Aren't they supposed to be basically stiff personality-less statues basically?

No they are enhanced super humans in armor. They do look like statues though.

Even they are, it's just not a design or approach to character that interests me.

(I'm actually glad there's nothing for me in this box set; I wasn't about to go spending 150 bucks right now. This makes it easy.)

I thought most of them were literally just skeletons stuffed into armor? Like the banner bearer. And can't you buy it for like 80-90? I saw a guy selling them for that here. (Which is a lot easier to swallow then our $200, with no possible discount or NZ's $250)
