Hi guys

I've played a fair few games of X-Wing now, but mostly against the same opponent.

I really want to get the best out of an A Wing - they seem like they should be good (but have struggled so far).

I'm considering running with the following list - would appreciate some feedback...

Tycho Celchu (32)
+A Wing Test Pilot
+ Push the Limit
+ Chardaan Refit
+Experimental Interface
+ Expert Handling

Nera Dantiels (36)
+Proton Torpedoes
+Proton Torpedoes
+ Deadeye
+Munitions Failsafe

Luke Skywalker (32)
+ R2-D2

Thanks

The main problem with this list is that you don't really have any scary threats. You don't have the raw numbers of a jousting efficiency list, so your three ships have to be really big threats on their own. And they just aren't. Tycho is incredibly maneuverable and hard to kill, but with only his primary weapon for offense he's going to fly circles around stuff turn after turn but never do much damage. Nera isn't terrible (though in general she's not a very competitive option), but with only 8 HP and no defense she'll be dead very soon. She's the obvious priority target as the only ship that's doing much damage and once she's gone you're screwed. Finally, Luke + R2-D2 is a good combo but you really want to find a way to get lone wolf on there. Without any defensive upgrades besides R2-D2 it's too easy to focus fire on him and kill him regardless of the HP regen. And, unlike Corran + R2-D2, Luke doesn't really have the firepower to be a scary endgame threat against an equivalent-level ship. He'll clean up the last academy pilot or two just fine, but against Fel/Corran/Whisper/etc you lose.

I honestly don't know how to fix this list though, because you don't have enough points to fix all three ships at the same time. You'll probably have to pick one or two of them and then take something cheap and efficient with your remaining points.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Jake is similar to Tycho but cheaper.

Consider proton rocket.

Maybe mess around with Outmaneuver or Predator to give yourself some extra dice. The a-wing's attack is weak.

Of course there alsothe usual push the limit / autothruster stuff people like to run on a-wings, and you have the option of stealth device and pretending you're Soontir Fel with a broken gun.
