Company Of The Great Wolf Detachment

231 7xWolfGuard (7xCOMBI_PLASMA,DROP POD)

231 7xWolfGuard (7xCOMBI_MELTA,DROP POD)

FAST ATTACK

245 4xThunderwolf Cavalry (3xStorm Shields,1xStorm Shield/Power Fist)

250 4xThunderwolf Cavalry (3xStorm Shields,1xStorm Shield/Thunder Hammer)

35 DROP POD (empty)

HEAVY SUPPORT

150 5xLong Fangs (3xLasCannons,1xMissile Launcher)

150 5xLong Fangs (3xLasCannons,1xMissile Launcher)

TACTIC

Battle leader joins one squad of thunderwolves (the thunderhammer one for Monster creature hunting) and along with the other thunderwolf squad rush forward. The 2 wolfguard drop pods deal with those enemy units that oppose the biggest
threat to my thunderwolves (DreadKnights, Centurions, Leman Russ with Pask etc) either destroying them or cripple them. Long fangs provide long range fire support while hiding in cover and capturing base objectives. The empty pod is for 2 pods arrving in first turn and for late game objective capturing - denying.

Yikes, that's a lot of toys. It feels like you could squeeze another unit out of just the fat on the units.

I'd cut the Wolf guard for iron priests with cyber wolves if you have them.

You could get three maxed out cyberwolves and join Two to one unit of thunderwolves to tank with 2+ and one of them and your HQ to another, and then you can split them off as you need to

Then he loses his alpha strike though...

i dont think that the HQ the T-wolves and the longfangs are overloaded with toys. They got the essentials.
The HQ is the Thunderwolf ap2 rerolls to hit at init5 with 2+/3++
The long fangs are the typical 3xap2 weapons and a missile for splitfire
and the thunderwolves are standard geared 4 with ss (always use ss) and one with PF for ap2

As for the wolfguard i think the toys are many but... its all about alpha strike.
i want 2 juicy targets evaporized or heavily crippled so my T-wolves can swipe all the minor threats and the crippled big ones.

The ironpriests are good but instead of 6 units on the table turn one ill have 4 and the focus fire on my t-wolves may cost me the game.
The wolfguard on the other hand have also WS5 and 3 attacks each on the charge or counter charge.

So i believe cutting the combies and the longfangs to squize another unit will only give me 4 mediocre units who may not fullfill their purpose.
