I'm curious if anyone has come up with some fun backstory for a custom Stormhost or a cool paint job they want to share. We all know a huge portion of the popularity of Space Marines is derived from their thousands of microfactions, and I look forward to seeing some cool ideas show up in Stormhost form as well. There's plenty of design space already given (considering some are souls from the Old World in various forms bound to new bodies/armor, some are new world warriors, etc.) and that's not even counting what we find in other realms.

I'm painting up my double Eternal starter as my custom Emerald Canticle. Bronze primary with Green secondary.

The Emerald Canticle, Stormhost of Sigmar

The winds of Ghyran favor these bold men for their bravery in the face of the abominations of Nagash. Their lungs were full of the praises of Sigmar as they fell in the End Times against the unending hordes of undead. Their souls so blessed by the wind that they echoed like beacons in the vast void after the destruction of the world and Sigmar himself heard their song light up the darkness.

So it was that Sigmar gripped their souls in the endless night and struck them upon his anvil. The rhythm of their song with his hammer created a glorious melody of life and rebirth that the realms became drowned in.

The Emerald Canticle descends from Azyr upon ringing bolts of lightning, their songs in their hearts and lungs bellowing forth as they strike down the foes of mankind wherever they stand. Where they tread life splits forth from hollow and broken ground and the winds of Ghyran flow through the air blessing all they touch.

They seek to undo the damage wrought by Nagash and Chaos in the End Times and are the ultimate foes of death itself.

So, anyone else wanna share? Figure this could make some fun discussion.

I already posted this in another thread, but here he is again. I tried to grimdarkify him a bit.

As much as I dislike the new fluff and the lack of points, I have to admit the Eternals are rather nice models.

Very nice! I saw him in the gallery while flipping through earlier, I really love the iron and golden yellow.

I just noticed your basing too, holy gak great job there. How'd you "build up" dirt to the sides of the rocks? Just pile on the mud technical?

That chap is smashing! Were the pelts sculpted on? If you're going to do more like that, some Space Wolf or even Chaos Warrior heads might aid the slightly feral, tribal look.

One thing I can't wait for is people who take the old Wolf Priests that still worshipped Sigmar in their pantheon and make a Stormhost that was derived of them.

It's Stirland Mud and some paint and ink.

I use cruddy brushes to move my Stirland Mud around, I need to look into getting a scoop or something for it. (I primarily use Astrogranite.)

I love that stuff though, every time a new one comes out I immediately get a couple bottles. The technical paints are just awesome.

Pelt is sculpted out of greenstuff. And I was thinking chaos marauder heads, yes.

Actually, now that I think about it the new universe has a ton of room for the Old Gods to make a comeback as new entities with their own forces. Warscrolls also support and allow Minor Factions much easier too.

Here's to hoping Ulric, Morr, and Dazh start wrecking gak like Sigmar is doing.

Great idea. I'm not a big fan of AoS in general, but I can appreciate it when people want to put their own twist on the background. Good luck with the new game and the new host

Also I love the model @Crimson. Great paint job. It makes the eternals look more real and less like gilded, flat statues.

I get my Sigmarine from WD today thankfully, actually going to try to find a way to convert him into a Deathpriest of Morr that gets brought back by Sigmar or something, maybe a Relictor Temple member. Going to paint him black and white, with halved shoulders and a hooded helmet or something (thanks Crimson for that inspiration, the half yellow/half red look is awesome.)

Crimson I really love the paint job.

Is there any chance of a walkthrough? Even if it's very simply just stating which paints you put on and in which order (I'm not a great painter myself but it all helps!)
