There alternate missions in each of the faction supplements as well as in the Escalation book and in the Crusade of Fire book. Oh and in the box sets I think there were some special missions, the Ork and Blood Angels had one anyway, Stormreach I think it was.

Supplements have some.

So does escalation.

The campaign books also have a number of alternative missions and even entire campaigns.

IMO the forgeworld campaign books have the most interesting alternative missions. You can either use the model list provided or just play them with preset pts amounts.

Here are a few that I cooked up for a campaign that me and my buddies were playing.

The Forge World books have amazing campaigns. If you're ever looking to start a Forge World army, they fit in perfectly. Added incentive to buy.

But the book Altar of War has a bunch of alternative missions for each race. A lot of them are meh, all of them need atleast 1500pts of models and do better at 2000pts, but some are very fun. The Black Legion missions in particular are fun to play, but the Tyranid ones have great narrative goals.

The Horus Heresy books from Forge World have great missions in them too. Takes some fudging to make work in 40k but that's fine. It's worth it to play some of those game types.

I've actually been doing the same thing. I went back and bought a bunch of the old supplements (which are usually dirt cheap) or traded for them. I picked up: Cityfight, Cities of Death, Planetstrike, Escalation, Spearhead, Battle Missions, the old Apocalypse and Apocalypse Reload books. Really the only book I haven't been able to find is Altar of War. The few I've found have been around 50 or 60 bucks. Pretty disappointing

I'm enjoying reading all of them, as there are some great campaigns and fluff in them, as well as some cool modeling and hobby sections (especially Cities of Death). I'm planning on making scans of all the relevant rules and scenarios and putting them in a big book that I can bring to games. So far I have over 100 scenarios!

Adding special rules to regular games can make them fun little scenarios.
Or things like Low Gravity: all infantry become jump infantry and take dangerous tests for all movement.

WAAAGH!!!

I feel Malestrom missions make themselves alternate missions by virtue of the objectives of each game being different.

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

When people ask, "What's the point in understanding everything?" they've just disqualified themselves from using questions and should disappear in a puff of paradox. But they don't understand and just continue existing, which are also their only two strategies for life.

Some of the old rulebooks had different missions, as well as old codices. You can probably find some of those for fairly cheap.

Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.

Not an official scenario but i have been working on a sewer mission scenario.

Some of the things i have come up with for the mission are things like cave-ins, suffocation rules, and (my favorite) sewer monsters.

Rules and the pvc board are in the beta stage
