Am I the only one who think 125$ is a bit much for a game targeted at kids?

Wrong forum, friend. Please go over to the AOS General Discussion forum for things pertaining to AOS.

About 2.66 USD per mini, not even considering dice, rulers, and book? Seems like a very good deal to me.

Yeah, whatever complaints I may have about AoS, the price of the starter is not one of them.

He's trying to be edgy and fit in by making fun of AOS. He's not being serious. He thinks he's trolling.

Its not the starters price that worries me. Its the new sets, GW has never been in the mind set of saving the customers money and seen as theres generally less models in AoS I can only imagine to make up any loss in model count/amount of sales they'll beef up the price of all sets instead. A bit more like warmachine, you have less so you pay more. You'll probably be seeing things like two model sets for £60 or an individual hero going for around £40 I highly doubt we'll see boxes of 10 troops going for less than £40

Now if this is a good point or bad really comes down to personal taste.

Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage,
and the ends of the earth your possession. You shall break them with a rod of iron and dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel. Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be warned, O rulers of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son,
lest he be angry, and you perish in the way,
for his wrath is quickly kindled. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.

I'll moan as much as anyone about GW prices in general, buy I still think that there are few products in the wargaming hobby that get you as much bang for your buck as a GW starter set. In terms of number/quality/variety of minis for the price there is basically nothing that comes close on all 3. Just a quick comparison:

AoS: 47 minis, mostly unique, very high quality, 3 60mm+ base big models

Infinity: Operation Icestorm: Super quality, but only 14 minis in the box for a comparable price. Still good value if you're getting into the game, and the contents are top notch, but for sheer hobby potential out of the box it can't match AoS.

Deadzone: 22 minis and plastic terrain. Again, decent value, and a bit cheaper, but a lot less 'stuff'.

Halo Fleet Battles: 49 plastic minis, but only 6 types in total, so definitely not as good from a general hobby perspective.

Personally, I can't wait to get ahold of the box and dig in to those fantastic sprues!

I had no idea this existed, thanks for pointing it out

Price? Army rules and core rules are free, i will be able to keep using my old models, price is hardly a big deal this time around, which is a huge change for GW.

When I was a little squig I got 40K 2nd Edition for Christmas and I think that was around £50 back then?? 20 years later and the starter set is only a little bit more expensive.

AoS stater set is GREAT value

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

I just picked up a double Eternal Starter (with all the other bits) for $90 USD on Ebay, so I'm very happy. Seems like people are wanting just the Khorne models en masse and leaving tons of just Eternal boxes for sale online.

To be fair, our hobby is a luxury item we throw money at, and many war-games I've been heading too lately aren't too cheap (cheaper than GW yes but not by much, still), they don't make me any money in the end so if I likes it I pays for it.
