Am I over thinking this? A crypt horror has 3 attack that do 2 damage each. If say a single Crypt horror gets into combat with say 10 clan rats, I land all 3 hits and they do not avoid them, I do a total of 6 wounds and kill off 6 clan rats?

Yup.
Also note that damage is dealt AFTER saves, so if you hit and wound with 3 attacks, they get only 3 saves and take 2 wounds for each failed one.

Whoa, hold on, really? You dont get saves per damage point caused? Isnt that what constitutes as a wound now? The game i have managed to play so far i've played with saves taken on damage.

I guess the game i played is entirely null and void now.

Interesting how "simplifying the rules" can lead to so much

Edit: stupid question.

To clarify (I'm not sure if your stupid question comment is referring to one that you made and then edited out or your questions in the post still): Yes.

Check out page 4 of the rules, under Making Attacks. Step 3 is Save Roll. Step 4 is Determine Damage. Makes beasts like the Necrosphinx with Rend -3 Damage 3 attacks REALLY scary.

Also worth noting is that there are some characters that effectively have a ward save. You need to read each ability carefully as the wording on some of these means you take the "ward save" after step 4 so after determining the damage pool.

e.g. Settra's Scarab broach says "roles a dice each time Settra suffers a wound" And the model doesn't suffer the wounds until you get to the "inflicting damage" step.
