Since AoS you no longer really need any type of bases I am planning on having "untypical"(not a word, I think) bases (like old flat pieces from other miniatures or even the bodies of other minies, as long as it the models stands up that's all that matters)
anyone know of any good place to stock up on flat pieces of scenery like doors, walls, carts etc (I am even thinking of sticking them on nicle flat pieces of rock and stone or at least magnetizing them to it) or "victim" just laying there... like a dead zombie corpse etc (I am sure I can just buy a zombie and sand him down but still)
But I also wanted to ask if anyone has used thinks like broken tiles or wooden pices or stones or rocks or bricks as bases... things you can find in your home or walking down the road.

Youre only limited by your imagination when it comes to bases. I wouldnt have them stood purely on a body though.. Might make them look like theyre surfing across the battlefield

This. Don't bother getting creative with your AoS basing because virtually everyone is going to fix the idiocy of measuring from the model and go back to measuring from the base. And they're going to expect you to have conventional bases for your models.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices. |

I honestly do not care what "Others" do, for me miniature wargaming was spending a couple of hours a week painting and putting together gak, gaming is a bonus, so with that I am going to add 4 little dots (or skulls) 1/2" from the model around it (or anything really, just something distinctive half an inch away from the model should really suffice and still look great) that would satisfy the hardcore anal gamers but chances are if they get too picky I will not be playing with them, I came to enjoy myself not give myself a brain hemorrhage from goblins and dragons.

I second the zombie surfers!
As for bases, I would purchase some oyumaru (a re-usable instant mold) and do something with that. Its great for taking detail etc.
here I use it to make rock faces for my bases, but considering you don't need the actual base you could just put them directly onto it. Obviously this uses GS and isn't as cheap as finding rocks, but for the little cost its got some great detail.
