Forgive me if this is a silly question but...I'm looking to field a tank commander which requires that it be accompanied by at least 1 additional Leman Russ to form a squadron. I don't have the codex infront of me atm (work) but outside of using that order that allows the tank commander to fire at a different target, can the other tanks in a squadron fire at independent targets? For example:

Imperial Guard vs Orks

Tank Commander (Executioner) fires at - Nob squad

Leman Russ Exterminator fires at - Killa Kans

Leman Russ Battle Tank fires at - Squad of boyz

Is this possible? Can each of the Leman Russ tanks within a squadron fire at independent targets normally?

If that was possible why would the Order even exist? The rules give no permission to fire at more than one target other than through the order.

As FlingitNow says, the rules require all weapons in a squadron of vehicles to normally fire at one enemy unit:

"Squadrons in the Shooting Phase

All of the weapons fired by a squadron of vehicles in each phase must target a single enemy unit."
