Hey guys, I just ordered Sevatar for my Night Lords Army because I loved the mini and would be awesome to have it among my 40k NL ranks however... usually walking power armor lords aren't really good so I'm trying to make a list around one and at the same time keep it as Night Lordish as I can. So... my main concern is how to make it survivable since T4 3+ save for a great model as Sevatar isn't really a good choice, so daemonheart came to my mind, 2+ save will definitively help him stay longer on the table and by taking CS I get fear on my whole army (which is a waste on raptors but... oh well) and get to access the 2+ sv.
So CS it is, now as on how to make it into combat... a few weeks ago I got my NL contemptor dread, which looks sweet but isn't really that good, so since I know it isn't point effective and I just got it because it looks cool as hell and fits my army I got him with 2 CCW, moded some plasma blasters on it so he is good to go, but would force me to use FW, which isn't frowned upon at my FLGS so it is ok. Since I'm taking FW already with the dread I decided to get me some dreadclaws as well and that would fix my issue in how to take my lord into combat.
Firstly I though to taking Terminators (Atramentar) as a retinue for the lord with MoN, all T5, all 2+ and invul of 5++ (4++ for the lord), seemed fine... you might think but termies already have DS... sure they do, but chaos DS sucks big time, with no way to prevent their scatter and once they arrive either run to avoid AP2 templates or take their one shot as termicides which they are awesome at. By having them on the dreadclaw I could DS the claw behind cover, flat out/jink and disembark+assault with them on my next turn along with my lord, seemed fine.
However after tinkering around with my list which initially had some palgue marines as troops choices but didn't seem to fit fluffwise, I decided to take a squad of chosens instead, with the CS buff so that they get preferred enemy seemed like I was passing on a great unit choice, so I initially paid 5 plasmaguns and a Rhino so that they could get near some nasty unit and rapid fire their asses Tau style, but then... their rhino could just get blown and probably will at turn 1 or 2 and leave them in the open... so I'm not 100% sure here but I could actually take them on the dreadclaw instead of the termies, and have the lord with them... sure they aren't as resilient but they got numbers, lots of attacks and I could finally use some of those great chosen models from DV if fielded with power axes/swords and even a hidden PF.
So... this is what I came with, again this is trying to keep a little into NL fluff so, some choice might seem weird, but at the same time I want to play with a list that if it is not the best chaos has to offer at least it can hold up against some casual lists.

Troops
10x Cultists - 1 autogun
10x CSM - Meltabombs, 2xPlasmaguns, bolters, Rhino, Icon of Vengeance
Fast
9x Raptors - MoK, 2xMeltaguns, Champ w/Power Sword & Meltabombs
9x Raptors - MoK, 2xMeltaguns, Champ w/Power Sword & Meltabombs
Total: 2000 pts
The Dreadclaws and termies are the only things on reserve, the rhino and raptors will try to get as close as they can to the enemy units using as much of cover as they can. If i'm not mistaken the dreadclaws have the drop pod rules that makes half of them arrive on the 1st turn, so the chosen and the HQs will probably drop first, so that they can assault on the 2nd turn and cast their powers taking out weak units so that the Blade of the Relentless can power up asap. On the next turns the contemptor drops and assaults whatever hopefully by turn 3, with so many plasmas and attacks on CCW he shouldn't have any problem dealing with most units.
